Hope you enjoy. Country Roads
music *ping*
Beautiful song
Always did.
Back in the day, my friends and I thought that John Denver’s music was for the “goody-two-shoes” kids when we were listening to the rock and roll that just kept on coming through FM radio in Detroit. John Denver’s contribution was so very American and should not be dismissed as being “lame” or “wimpy” because it is of a quality that is sorely lacking in today’s pop music. Listening to him now brings a feeling of well-being, so I guess I must have liked it all along.
The word that comes to my mind to describe his voice is....pure.
Yay! Thank you!
Great song, although I have to say that Hernes House Band does a great cover.
Japanese Anime that featured that song, by the end of the movie I wanted to jump out the window

Great song. Lost John and Jim Croce in an instant of time.
Down the country roads, you’d be traveling with:

The Blue Ridge Mountains and the Shenandoah River are mostly in Virginia. Perhaps the song is about Harper's Ferry, WV, where the Shenandoah flows into the Potomac.
I love almost every song Denver made.
This one has to be one of my top 5.
Thank you. Looks like BEAUTIFUL landscapes in the video. I will have to try to watch/listen later, when I have the opportunity to do so.
ping for later
Same here. I wasn’t a huge fan back in the day, but I do enjoy his music and he had an enormous talent. He was interwoven with my childhood memories so that listening to his music now really does take me back to fond memories of days past.
At something like 23 years old, John Denver wrote “Leaving on a Jet Plane” which was a huge hit for Peter Paul and Mary. Hard to believe someone that young could write such a remarkable song.
I was sad that day I heard he passed away. The world lost a remarkable talent. Still remember where I was like people remember where they were when they heard Kennedy had been shot. I lived near Monterrey at the time, where he crashed his plane and I’ve kayaked out on that same bay many times.
Great song. I also liked the Statler Brothers’ version.
Always liked this song, even back in college days (goody two shoes rep or not).
Here’s another cover version that’s a different take. Toots and the Maytals off of their “Funky Kingston” album...1973ish reggae.

I saw Harry Chapin in ‘75 at the Little League diamonds in my hometown and I remember years later being on the freeway in my car when I heard on the radio that he was killed in a fiery car crash on a freeway in another state.
