It will NEVER end in a tie or failure of one candidate to win. Even if the electoral map results show that result. One or more of the actual electors in the Electoral College will switch - and we all know that Mrs. Bill will not allow a defector, whatever it takes. The loyalty of Trumps slate of electors in every state he wins will be tested - every individual will be subjected to the worst kind of threats and abuse. They and their families will likely need protection and support. Mrs. Bill’s people are probably working overtime right now on finding a weak link. Hopefully Trump’s people are also vetting their slate to ensure their people are loyal and protected.

If it was a tie, the Clintonistas would bribe or blackmail one of the Trump electors into voting for her. Said elector would live a very comfortable life in some distant country under an assumed name.

The 1824 election also went to the House of Representatives because no candidate had a majority.

The Senate has no role in the selection of the president, only the vice president. Jefferson was selected in 1800 after 35 ballots in the House which could not defeat Burr. Only after Hamilton persuaded a Federalist not to vote on the 36th ballot did Jefferson become president. This was one of the reasons Burr killed Hamilton. Hamilton considered him another Cataline while Jefferson had “pretensions of integrity.”

Remember, when it goes to the house, it’s not every member has a vote - each state has a delegation, and each state has 1 vote.

And if the state’s delegation is tied, the state gets no votes.

BO would insert himself into the process, unconstitutionally of course.

Reminder: Congress has to accept the Electoral College vote. It’s not automatic. That’s another step designed to safeguard the process.

A President can be elected with fewer than 270 electoral votes if there are three or more candidates who receive electoral votes. Then the plurality wins.

It doesn't have to be a tie, it only needs to be, no one reached majority - 270.

In this election, I believe it might be nice, it Trump voters in NM, actually switched, and voted for Johnson.

Trump will not win NM, unless he has plenty of other states to win. BUT, if it's a close election, NM might be a deciding state for Hillary.

So, If it's a VERY close election, Hillary might be able to be denied, by throwing NM to Johnson, and sending the decision of President to the house.

Now, the really weird thing is that the Senate chooses the VP! In the Senate, each senator gets a vote, and the VP must get 51 votes. As it sits now, it would probably go to Pence, BUT it could be President Trump, with VP Kaine!

Sorry, but that is 100% incorrect. A candidate must win 51%, or 270 electoral college votes to win.

To become president, a candidate must receive a majority of the electoral votes—and today, with a total of 538 electors, that means a candidate needs 270 electoral votes.

"...Could Trump-Clinton end in a tie?"

No. Not even close.

Trump 65%, Clinton 27%.

Massive, epochral super-mandate majority win for D.J. Trump. Deal with it.

Goes to the US House of Representatives

No, no, no, didn't you hear about Executive Order #345-14?

"In the case of an Electoral Tie, the deciding vote will reside with the President of the United States."

Just kidding but....

That is NOT out of the question. The Democrats would be more likely to use that tactic for their side vs the GOP. The GOP would use such tactics too, if the candidate had been Jeb!
or Kasich.

I’ve been saying this for a while.

A 269-269 tie would be a disaster for this country. No matter who ended up winning I firmly believe blood would be spilled over it.

In the case of a tie, the Constitution requires that the House choose the President. The House would probably choose neither Clinton nor Trump. Their only other Constitutional choices would be Johnson, Stein or Biden (the current Vice President is the default choice, if no candidate gets a majority of the State delegations.)

The House of Representatives would elect the President, with the Congressional Delegation from each state casting one vote.

Apparently, there are more Republican Congressional Delegations than Democrat.

The Senate would elect the Vice President. So, if a few RINO Senators jump ship, all they would be able to do is elect Tom Kaine.

In a situation like this, I could see the Senate giving it to Pence as Acting President and letting the House argue about it for two years.

Each state gets one vote, and the state has to have a quorum to cast its vote. The minority party could avoid a vote for a long time. Especially if the majority party doesn't give a rat's ass.

Nope. Not going to cast a vote for that moron.

I have a better idea, since the Johnson voters are the lower number, encourage them to switch to Trump.
