Playing around with the RCP Electoral "Make your own Map" feature and accidentally end in a 269-269 tie.
What a possible nightmare.
So Trump Clinton tie, can you imagine the month of lawsuits that follows? So suppose the tie stands?
Or if the House picks Trump, can you imagine the hysterics in the Media and in the streets from the habitually violent leftist fringe groups?
For god sake GET OUT AND VOTE so the election ends Nov 8th 2016

It goes to the House and if they have any survival instincts they won’t put illary in.

The Dems would just need to bribe or blackmail one Republican elector to take care of the tie. They shouldn’t have any problem coming up with one that was easy.

UN-Possible! If that did happen, the state of ‘tie’ would not last very long. We went through that back in 2000. This was when the parties got along together far better than now. And still, it was a full out power battle. People want this to be OVER and resolved on or near Election Day.
They might make it to their vehicles in DC, but they had better not go home to their district.
There wouldn't be much point, because it would be the end of their political career, unless they switched parties. Whether they survived the next election would depend on the district.
One thing that can be almost certain: the mid-term election would result in a historic gain by the Republicans, rivaling the ones during Bill Clinton's and Obama's first terms.
A tie is the best Hillary could hope for...there will be a bevy of recounts, then lawsuits, and finally the Obama SCOTUS, who will coronate Hillary.
They’re desperate, and will pull out all the stops.
The only cure - THE ONLY CURE - will be for Trump voters to turn out in such numbers there is no question about the results.
Then it goes to the house where the states get a single vote (each rep votes in their state caucus.)
Still tied? It goes to the senate.
Still tied? I decide. I select myself.
So, yeah. You don’t want that to happen.
Not as much of a nightmare as hillary winning outright. I don’t think the house would dare select clinton.
Thus the use of the word "nightmare".
The only thing I'm unsure of is which session would make the selection...the outgoing or the incoming.
Then the election goes to the House.
Odds are low, but there are plausible scenarios in which the election ends in a tie, 269 to 269. In such as case the House of Representatives chooses the President (from among the top 3), and the Senate chooses the V.P. (from among the top 2).
It happened before (with slightly different rules), with Jefferson and Burr finishing in a tie. The House took 36 votes over eleven day to choose Jefferson. On the first 35 votes, eight state delegates voted for Jefferson (when he needed nine states), six for Burr, and two were tied. Jefferson needed nine for election. On the 36th votes, upon the advise of Alexander Hamilton, several Congressmen changed their vote, and Jefferson was elected with the support of ten states.
The nation survived, although Hamilton did not.

If it were it end in a 269-269 tie, Trump would only need to flip one member of the Electoral College.
