ALPINE, Texas (AP) — Alpine police say the reward for information leading to the whereabouts or safe return of a missing West Texas college student has increased to $200,000.
Police announced the increase Monday in the disappearance of Zuzu Verk, a 22-year-old from Fort Worth who is a junior at Sul Ross State University in Alpine.
Police have said her boyfriend, Robert Fabian, has been named a suspect because investigators believe he was the last person with her before she disappeared. No one has been arrested.

Alpine is a great town. It probably hasn’t had more than one murder in 50 years!

I hope they find her. It seems her boyfriend and some of his family members are under investigation.
I was in Alpine in 1987 and saw Sul Ross State. That was during an oil downturn, like now.
I like the Alpine/Fort Davis area of Texas. I hope they find out what happened to her.
It’s beautiful, in a thinly-populated way. My father and I went on vacation there ... a nice evening in Marathon, then to Big Bend National Park, then we ended up driving all over the place on a quest for a Toyota alternator ... Ft. Davis, Alpine, Marfa, Fort Stockton. The only Japanese alternator between San Antonio and El Paso was in Fort Stockton, where they were extremely nice AND we made it rain!

Oh my.......I pray they find her safe but it doesn’t sound good. Our oldest granddaughter is away at college in Arlington Texas and I worry about her safety every minute. So sad....;(

Scalia was murdered (in my opinion) on the Cibolo Creek Ranch south of Marfa in Presidio County. Alpine is in Brewster County, a huge county several times bigger than some states. My guess is that Cibolo Creek and Alpine are maybe 100 miles apart.
I deer and quail hunted near the Cibolo Creek Ranch for 20 years. But, it’s been awhile. I love it out there. No place to eat but a Dairy Queen though..............LOL!
