First trial over 2015 biker shootout that killed 9 in Waco is set for April

WACO — The first trial over a Central Texas gunfight involving rival motorcycle gangs that left nine people dead, 20 others hurt and more than 150 bikers charged is now set for April, 23 months after the 2015 shootout.

"In complex cases, it's not uncommon for the trial to occur 18 months to two years after the alleged incident occurred," 54th District Judge Matt Johnson, who will preside over some of the trials, told the Waco Tribune-Herald.

"It's not like we had a shortage of cases before Twin Peaks came along," 19th District Judge Ralph Strother, who also will handle some of the trials, said. "It's just the vagaries of the system, the complexity of the cases and the sheer volume that is present in the criminal justice system."

Strother is scheduled to get the first case, set for April 17. The next one follows in June,

Court records show the seven bikers with tentative trial dates are either Bandidos or Cossacks, motorcycle clubs the state considers to be gangs that had gathered for a meeting.

The first to stand trial likely will be Christopher Jacob Carrizal, his father, Christopher Julian Carrizal, or Jerry Edward Pierson, all Bandidos from Dallas.

McLennan County prosecutors have said that first case is likely to take about two weeks.

Besides pushing for speedy trials and dismissal of charges, attorneys for some of the 155 indicted bikers unsuccessfully have sought a change of venue and have tried to disqualify District Attorney Abel Reyna from handling the cases.

A grand jury in September declined to recommend charges for three Waco police officers who shot bikers during May 2015 gunfight.

Ballistics reports seen by The Associated Press show that four of the people killed were hit by the same caliber of rifle round fired by Waco police,

This whole thing was a setup, apparently by the local D.A. and the Feds, probably intended to help pass gun control laws. Almost certainly most of the victims were shot by Federal sharpshooters. I wonder if Trump can do anything to stop it. It seems suspicious that after endless delays, they’re starting the trial right before Trump comes into office.

“government set up and killing”

Bikers, eyewitnesses, films, cops all say the bikers started the fight.

Absolutely not. These guys don’t do government crap. They are much smarter than that. This trial is a farce. The key self defense. The jury will be rigged. I pray for 1 prswn of justice that hold out to hang that crap jury in waco that is all about little girls in title 9. If men want to stand in a duel— That is OK!

So when a biker from the Bandidos, the oldest gang in Texas and one of the largest in the world, ran into a young Cossack in the Twin Peaks parking lot last Sunday, everyone knew what was coming.

First words, then fists, then guns. Within seconds, Richie, Diesel and Dog were dead. “I took off,” the Cossack rider said. “I got out of there. I didn’t have a weapon. I couldn’t fight anybody.” ''''' Trouble started almost immediately, he said: One of the Bandidos, wearing a patch that identified him as a chapter president, ran his bike into a Cossack standing in the parking lot. The Cossack who was hit was a “prospect,” a man in his mid-20s who was “striving to become” a full member of the club. “They came up really fast, and the prospect turned and faced the bikes,” the Cossack chapter president said. “He fell backward into other [parked] bikes. The guy who hit him stopped and got off of his bike and said, ‘What are you doing? Get . . . out of my way. We’re trying to park.’ ” Cossacks quickly jumped to the prospect’s defense, he said: “Guys were saying, ‘You’re disrespecting us,’ or, ‘We’re not backing down.’ ”

In a blink, it started, he said: “Two punches: One from them, one from us.”

A Bandido with a patch identifying him as sergeant-at-arms of the same chapter threw a punch at Richard Matthew Jordan II, 31, known as “Richie,” who was from Pasadena, Tex. Jordan punched the guy back.

“At that point in time, the sergeant in arms shot Richie point-blank,” the Cossack said.

Police said Jordan died of a gunshot wound to the head.

“Then all the Bandidos standing in the parking lot started pulling guns and shooting at us,” he said. “There were maybe 60 or 70 of us in the parking lot. . . . We took off running. We scattered. Three of our guys went down instantly. They caught a couple more that tripped and fell, and Bandidos were shooting at them.”

He said that the second man to die was Daniel Raymond Boyett, 44, known as Diesel, a “road captain” in the Cossacks from Waco. Police said that Boyett died from gunshot wounds to the head.

The third man down was “Dog,” whose real name is Charles Wayne Russell, 46, of Winona. Russell’s cause of death was listed as a gunshot wound to the chest.

The Cossack said that he believes the Bandidos had no intention of making peace that day.

“It was a setup from start to finish,” he said.

I find it interesting that your solution to gang problems would be to ....

The answer is to sweep them with Homeland Security forces with AR15s and their 1 billion rounds of .223 and shoot any terrorist they find DEAD!! That killing will END!!

You simply don’t understand.

For some here, EVERYTHING MUST BE a government conspiracy.

In this case, it was the local LEOs, the Texas DPS, the Texas Rangers, the FBI, DEA, CIA, NSA, Freemasons, the Mexican Federales, the KGB, the Sons of the Gestapo, Henry Kissinger, Lyndon LaRouche, Edward Scherdlu, Queen Elizabeth II, International Jewery, the Mossad, and the Men Who Eat Spinach all engaged in a huge conspiracy to frame the poor peace loving, baby kissing, clean living Banditos and Cossacks.

Hell, how could you ever compare film, video and eyewitness testimony to the theories that can be concocted with the aid of a fifth of cheap Bourbon?

Any more logical thought like this and you will have to turn in your Roger Ramjet Secret Decoder Ring that reveals who REALLY killed Archduke Ferdinand!

If four were killed by cops then most were killed by bikers.

An even MORE professional response would have been to put the kibosh on this “family plaza” (with a breastaurant??) meeting, telling everybody that the Cossacks and Bandidos planned to have a deadly feud.

But again, this wouldn’t have created a chance to accuse the entire bunch of narsty bikers, or for some to die.

Ridiculous. You’re entitled to a speedy trial; 18 months is NOT “speedy”.
