The oldest known gorilla to be born in captivity, a female named Colo, has died in the US aged 60. Colo passed away in her sleep overnight at the Columbus Zoo and Aquarium in Ohio, less than a month after celebrating her birthday. She was born at the zoo in December 1956 and is believed to be the first gorilla ever born in captivity. Colo, a Western lowland gorilla, lived for more than 20 years longer than the average captive gorilla. Despite recently having a malignant tumour removed, zookeepers said that she had been recovering well and the cause of her death had yet to be determined.

Cast a vote of Hillary, too. Probably several more presidential elections into the future as well.

We lost another great ape.

King Kong Dirge

Bonzo is not here today
Mighty Joe Young lost his way
Magilla won’t fit in my bed
Because their best friend is now dead

(Refrain)
Please go King King, please won’t you go dear King Kong
Please go King Kong
For we all need some sleep

And it’s really time to go
No more deals with RKO
All your antics have now ceased
It was Beauty killed The Beast
(Refrain)

Made some flicks in Tokyo
And the remake was so-so
The critics killed you today
I think they just miss old Fay Wray
(Refrain)

I remember seeing Colo as a child when my dad took me to the zoo. Her name comes from “Columbus”, as in Ohio. Wow, who would have thought she would still be alive until so recently? Amazing. RIP, girl.

I think Garrett Morris sang the dirge on the once-funny SNL about the middle of the last century.
It may have been written by that freak who did the skit about jabbing knitting needles in his eyes. He was seen no more.

Michael O’Donaghue I think. If I’ve got the right guy, he was a sick puppy.

First Harambe, now Colo. Governor Kasich needs to quit his Never Trump nonsense and make Ohio safe for gorillas again.
