Hope indeed it was a miss and not a wound shot. I don't know how many deer carcasses I've come across while bird hunting with arrows in them...........
As a side note, I have a unique trophy from one of my pheasant hunts to N.W. Kansas. It's a broad head embedded into the vertebrae of likely a mule deer that escaped it's hunter, eventually died, and all the remains devoured by predators until only a few bones were left............
I was walking along a plumb thicket when the sun reflected off the broad head and when I looked down, there it was, stuck in the bones of the dead deer........
