Apparently, there is something to the story. Several outlets have reported it. A quick Google search on ‘Trump McConnell Electoral College’ shows numerous stories that Trump did bring up abolishing the EC and McConnell seemingly talked him out of bringing up such a proposal.

I'm sorry, but the story doesn't pass the smell test. Trump is president because of the electoral college. Why on earth would be propose to abolish it?
Only leftists want to abolish the electoral college. I wouldn't put it past them to try and sign Trump on to their agenda without his knowledge. They are that insane.
I switched over to John an Ken. Even liberal Tim Conway jr. Is more on the trump train than Levin. Did Shapiro get canned from the morning answer? I haven’t heard that fool recently.

I’ve listened once in the last several months. I find myself listening to anything else (1200 AM, 97.1 FM) but Mark (760 AM). The never-trumps and/or anti-Trumps are a strange bunch. There is nobody else in America that could’ve taken on the Clinton Crime Syndicate, the Bush cabal and the parroting propagandists and clobbered them all while having fun doing it.
Amazing citizen. Crossover cred. Not beholden to any politician or lobbyist. Tremendous packaging and presentation. WOOOOOOHOOOOO President Trump! One of the greatest Americans in the last 200 years.

Trump himself knows his victory was in the Electoral College. But maybe he believes the Founders erred? And that’s why he wants to do something about vote fraud? Trump thinks tariffs are a good idea, so who knows?
