I've noticed that a lot of celebrities use social media to vilify Trump voters, & it's getting frustrating. Millions of people hang on their every word, and the celebrities push this narrative that we're all racist, uneducated, fools. Twitter is an especially infuriating place for propaganda from celebrities. When someone from our side expresses himself or herself, it's common for celebrities to weaponize their fans to bully that person.
Here's a minor example of a celebrity using his twitter to target Trump voters. It's an actor/comedian named Jemaine Clement. He mocks & retweets Trump voters, fully aware that when he does, his fans will harass them. He targets mostly women.
I know we can just ignore them, but celebrities DO have an impact on public opinion. They're creating further division in our country. Is there any way to fight back against their propaganda? They're the ones with all the power and influence. We're just the little guys trying to live our lives.
How does he know what you tweet unless you are tweeting to him? If you are teeing to him then don’t.
I’ve never heard of this so-called “celebrity,” and I’ve never run across him on Twitter.
In the case of the person above, he regularly goes into Trump or Pence threads and picks fights with people. Then he retweets their comments, so his followers will bully them. It usually isn’t Trump voters seeking him out. It’s him seeking them out.
I’m getting the same whiff you are.
Perhaps reconsider how valuable social media is to your life. Maybe you would be happier not caring so much about it, and how it can be used. I can see how it would be really hard to give it up if you have used it a lot and also had many good things come from it. As far as folks who listen to celebs, take heart that we haven’t even had 65% eligible voter turnout since 1908. Maybe that’s a good thing.

He retweets their comments and then they get bullied? how does that work?
Who cares what they say. They are trained monkeys that only exist for our own amusement. The people that pay them any attention would never support Trump or conservative principles.
He mocks them for all his followers’ enjoyment, and then the followers jump into action and harass the person endlessly. That’s how fandoms often work on twitter. Fans like to show their devotion to celebrities by attacking whoever they view as their “enemy”
Unfortunately a lot of people do listen to celebrities. I wish I could say it’s only far left liberals who are influenced by them, but many people in the center and even on the right are. I’m sick of smug, wealthy, celebrities having so much influence in America.
What are “celebrities”?
I’m fairly young. Social media is how most people socialize and make plans in my age group.
People who are known by millions?
He had a tv show & has done some Disney & Spielberg stuff. He’s not even American, so his obsession with Trump voters is especially strange.
If they were “the ones with all the power and influence,” then Trump wouldn’t be President.
You must be aware of the old saying, “Don’t feed the trolls.”
Or maybe you have to be old. Don’t feed the trolls, kiddo.
I’m old and I’m on Twitter. Some of the ‘progressive’ people I follow have gone completely off the rails since the election. It’s pointless to interact with them about anything political. But it is semi-humorous to read their tweets since they thought HRC was a sure thing before the election.
I meant in terms of bullying. I don’t like seeing people attacked for their beliefs, especially when their beliefs are ones that I share.
It’s not just celebs.
All people who consider themselves artists
think they are so important.
Well maybe not all.
But some like Mathrew Broadrick who thinks the theater
is so much better than movies. He’s so special.
