My son swears by Amazon Prime. We may follow him into the fold.

"We liked The Crown too. Missed it when it ended."

It will be coming back for a second season.

Will give Kodi a try, the firestick is pretty versatile, the more options the better.

Things can only improve.

I'm with a bunch of people here about using Kodi and having some kind of computer hooked up to your tv. It doesn't have to be a supercomputer. Check out some of these mini-computers available on Amazon. Combine one of them with a wireless keyboard/mouse and you've got your hardware issues taken care of assuming you already have a router and wifi.

You should also run a pay VPN service too. They have a wide range of prices so it pays to shop around. The one I use is $25 a year. VPN will slow your data speed down but chances are if you're using wifi; that's where your bottleneck will be. For instance; I had a 50 MB download speed and the VPN might slow it to 40 MB but my wifi at the computer slowed it to under 7 MB so I switched to a hard line. It all depends on where your wifi/router/cable modem is located in relationship to your receiving computer and the type of receiver you have.

Kodi does have a bit of a learning curve but it gets easier the more you use it like anything else. I found YouTube to help me the most as far as getting it set up to work just the way I like then you can back up those settings to use elsewhere or just save it in case you want to delete Kodi and start again with your setting without going through the entire process again. The Exodus addon is a must but I also like Zen. They are almost the same but you might find a need to go from one to the other.

Theoretically you can access every tv show and movie ever made through Kodi but they still have to be hosted on some server somewhere and be available at the time you want to stream it. There may be a way to download and save a show or movie but I get the feeling that's where the trouble starts. Just stick with streaming.

Another thing you will find that makes life with Kodi easier is to get comfortable with different host sites that require you to pair with your computer for 4 hours (for the free type) like Openload, thevideo.me, and vidup. These paired sites work better and faster than some of the non paired sites and of course the time of day you're accessing them makes a difference in how smoothly they stream as well. I'm not an expert; I just learned from trial and error like anyone else but I am retired so I have more free time than when I was working. One quirk was this little notice telling me the cache was full would pop up so I figured out how to clear it but it would come back so I just started ignoring it and everything still works fine. You may or may not have the same issue.

Hopefully Kodi and Projecttv.xx will be available for a long time in one form or another because streaming is the way of the future plus with the commercials cut out; your time is better spent. A one hour tv show without commercials is only 41 minutes or so.

Also websites hosting movies and tv shows come and go all the time. I think they get shut down eventually. I leave it up to you on whether or not you want to use those. Make sure you have a good up to date anti-virus and anti-malware program running along with a popup blocker and ad blocker if you do.

This advice isn’t high tech, but you could try a public library.

I have a couple of problems with this solution. First, I reconfigured the way my wireless headphones and Amazon Fire Stick connect with my TV so that I could stream. It would be a total absolute pain to have to unplug and replug in these connections. Right now, I'm set up for streaming, and that is much more convenient than having to schlep videos back to the library or to the mailbox.

Second, most NYC libraries have ONE copy of a given video, and so, with each copy getting all the wear and tear, they're pretty scratched up unless you luck out and are among the first few viewers of that video.

Third, NYC public libraries really gouge you in fines if you are late returning a video. I think it's up to $3/day now. Ouch.

Amazon Prime has movies out of theaters as little as 3 months showing for free.

The oscar winner “Manchester By the Sea” will be free on Prime may 5.

That’s pretty quick.

I find with Prime if one is willing to wait 6 months to a year, many movies will be free to watch, at least for a little while.

They go back and forth after that, charging some months and not others for the same movie.

Odd. But i’m a B Horror movie fan myself and they always have new ones added each day.

1 in 3 is good. 1 in 5 is very good :)

Just getting into Kodi on a Fire TV. Which addons do you recommend? I know the content is out there, but still have issues easily finding what I’m looking for. Is there a preconfigured setup that works for you?

The current shows are still free, but they are now charging for unlimited access to the whole catalog of past years:

CMOVIESHD.COM
http://cmovieshd.com/

Live streaming latest movies (some Cams) most SD or HD. Cams become HD when DVDs released. Almost any TV show you can think of all episodes. Worldwide collection, not just US.

Kodi absolutely rocks!

Kodi on a $50 Firestick, load FireTV Guru's build and you can find about any movie or TV show ever put in the can. There are some older B movies you can't find a stream for on Zen or Exodus, but most everything in the last decade you can find. I use IMDB or TMB on my iPad for searching. Much easier than using the remote on the Firestick.

Yep Kodi is the best with Exodus. You get get it already installed on a SkyStreamBox @ amazon for $149. Add in a sky mouse, watch anything, even movies IN-THEATERS. I use air antenna for local channels (40) and the box for movies, shows, whatever.

Cut the cable
