Some of the original series are pretty good, though. I’m loving “The Crown.”

"Narcos" and "House of Cards" are two good Netflix series.

I’m looking for something that would let me view recorded concerts... (like Crosby Stills Nash, the Eagles) etc. there are snippets on YouTube, but I would like to see many older concerts in their entirety.

Still is you just have to keep up with which addons are current. Right now the best add-on is Exodus

When you get it installed correctly and get the right addons you’ll be able to find virtually any movie or TV show ever created.

Have you tried an Antenna they pick up a lot of channels, and give you local news.

I hate that $150 cable bill, but hubby is addicted to sports, velocity, cars, NASCAR racing, football, basketball, Tennis, Olympics. I could do with out.

We have Netflix, they should follow Amazon’s lead and tell you, you have already viewed this movie, more info. We load instant ones as well as disc, we don’t get enough detail info that says it’s got queers in it or murder. Some do, most don’t. Even the disc don’t give those details. We just watched the last Star Trek movie, Holyweird could not leave out 1 queer scene that did nothing for the story plot but T’D me off. We have 300 channels 90% is not watchable, I never developed the Soap bug, RFDTV is what we watch the most of History, or Geo, some PBS, besides his sports/car crap. Only 1 I picked was Forged in Fire, I like watching how they make swords, knives I find it interesting. Not worth what we pay for.

Another vote for Amazon Prime. Plus you can’t beat the free two-day shipping offered with Prime membership. $99 per year.

How long does it take to get new dvd’s delivered?

The DVDs come from your queue. When Netflix receives DVDs from me, they ship the next two DVDs from my queue. If I have put a new release at the top of my queue, they ship it.

Sometimes there's a delay, but not usually for new releases. For example, I currently have "Patriots Day" as number 8 in my queue. It is marked "short delay." By the time I've received numbers one through seven, it will probably be available. You can rearrange, add and delete movies in your queue very easily. Added movies take the last spot in the queue. You can click and drag a movie to the top of your queue if you want to see it before the others.

Kudos to Netflix for having an affordable, easy to use and fast service.

If you’re in NYC, you should have decent Libraries. They loan out all kinds of DVDs, books on CD, etc. FOR FREE!

The Library system is pretty much the ONLY only place I want my tax dollars used. :)

I didn't get in on the beginning of "Mercy Street" so I was hoping I could go online and start at the beginning. It wouldn't let me unless I paid for it.

It appeared it only let you watch that weeks program before the next weeks came on.

I will try it again.

It sounds like a good deal. From the moment you drop a dvd in the mail until you have a new one— how long do you think that is?

Netflix DVDs for me come from Duluth, GA, about a 3.5 hour drive from here. The turnaround is typically two days. If I mail DVDs on Tuesday, for example, I'll usually receive the next DVDs on Thursday.

The return mailer has a barcode on the back that identifies me. I addition, there is a small window on the back. If you put the DVD in the mailer face down, the barcode on the DVD shows through the window. Thus Netflix can tell who sent the DVD and which DVD was sent without opening the mailer. Clever.

Netflix has mailing centers everywhere (almost).

Is there a preconfigured setup that works for you?

Well, this is like asking if you are a Ford guy or a Chevy guy, the debate rages on endlessly. Me being a lazy guy and not a perfectionist, keep that in mind, I'll share what works for me.

I've found that Kodi is the basic platform, and there are many add-ons that can be installed for, say, classic pictures. If you take one man's perfect setup, with all the current popular add-ons, save the configuration and give it a name, that is a build. There are many builds you can download for Kodi, Google best builds for Kodi.

Now the key is to download and install Aries Wizard, YouTube is your friend on this. Now you have a build manager. Select a build you like, install, and you are good to go. Don't like? Choose another and install it. It sure beats attempting to find and install the features you want, that is a learning experience. I did it for fun, but you certainly don't have to spend all the time learning how to do it. Good luck and happy viewing. My experience with Kodi ha s been quite positive and changed my life for the better.

I’ve tried the find features and do it yourself. Have everything working but I’m kind of lazy and am looking for a good build. I’m really trying to get my wife comfortable more than anything. She won’t get away from traditional tv if I can’t !Ake it simple. I mainly want good search capability.

Thanks. I think I might try the dvd service. I'm in upstate NY, I would think there's got to be a Netflix distribution place near me. I'm an hour from Rochester, about the same from Syracuse.

If you follow the map link in 74 above and zoom in a little on NY, you’ll find there are mailing centers in both Rochester and Syracuse.

Check out the Netflix web site. I’m pretty sure they offer a try before you buy plan.
