Patriots fan here too, heh heh, and while I don’t “want” Jimmy G to go away, if there really is a serious prospect that Brady will play 3+ more years then it makes no sense not to get best value for Garoppolo now. Also, for Jimmy’s own sake I’d like to see him able to enjoy a full career as an NFL starter somewhere than to spend more time as a back-up.

As for Cleveland, well ofc they will do what they think is best for them. But I don’t see how taking a chance on one of the current draft QBs or continuing with their pathetic QB roulette could make as much sense as giving Garoppolo a shot. IF they don’t get going with a decent QB one of these days they will remain pathetic forever.

So glad it’s not my problem, ha ha.

Cleveland can take Garrett and they will still suck.

Cleveland can take Trubisky and still suck, too. Except then they will suck without a pass rush.

I think he has been a pretty good soldier, but...you can tell he has the itch to show what he can do.

I would rather see him end up traded to the NFC than having him sign with an AFC team like...the Texans. I think the Texans do have a pretty good team except for their quarterback position. Just watched the “Three Games to Glory” set last night, and I forgot, until the game got out of hand a bit, the Texans played the Pats pretty hard.

It did make me realize how much Osweiler just isn’t that good. He is lucky to be tall, so he doesn’t have the handicap of trying to get a good view, but...his throwing motion is atrocious. I heard an analyst say it was because he was so tall, it presents a problem getting the mechanics right. I can believe that.

Plus, I have heard he is a bit of a douche.

I think they are making a huge mistake if they don’t take Garrett. I can’t believe they are rumored to be looking at Trubisky. It isn’t that I think Trubisky is bad, I just think they would make far better use of that pick on Garrett. If the Pats had that pick, there isn’t even a question.

“The days of the likes of Trend Dilfer QB Super Bowl teams is over.”

This just isn’t true. It helps, but a great team is a great team. The Denver team who won the Super Bowl two years ago would have won it with ANY respectable QB. Manning was just a shadow of his former self that year.

They need to go for the sure thing and the DE. Athleticism beats a crap shoot QB any day.

Good grief. I just read an article a few minutes ago where he is saying it will be a slap in the face if Trubisky gets picked ahead of him.

That is a warning sign to me. You want your quarterback to be confident, maybe a little cocky, but...that is an attitude I don’t like to hear.

Agreed. But I think Denver could have won with a turd under center. Their defense was that good.

Yea, that Denver team and the 2002 Baltimore team defense were the 2 best defenses in the last 20 years.

They won their Super Bowls by themselves.

The problem is the Pats are demanding way too much for Garoppolo. You can likely have AJ McCarron for less than NE is asking, who’s a more seasoned QB, one who’s played in more games.

I guess it was the 2000 Ravens team.

It isn’t that I think Trubisky is bad...

Trubisky is a gigantic question mark. He started one year and couldn't beat Duke or NC State. He'd be a stretch as a second rounder, and doesn't belong anywhere near first pick, first round.

Best draft philosophy is get a QB, OL to protect the QB, and DL/LB to get the QB.

I don’t think that is the case, especially since AJ McCarron has already shown what his ceiling is.

As for what the asking price is, I don’t think a mid-first round pick is too rich. There have been some insane things out there saying this year’s first, next year’s first, etc. and that is just silly. Heh, the root of those may have been the equivalent of dropping some bait to look for crazy and desperate fish.

I think a first and third are a good swap for him.

Bottom line, I don’t believe they intend to trade Garoppolo. I think they are trying to make a run this year, and are keeping him around for insurance and writing him off next year. Same with Butler, though I believe there is a chance Butler could stay with NE. They are going to do what they always do...have him play under duress to “prove” himself (again, poor guy) then let him test free agency. If nobody offers him more than $10-11 million a year, I could see NE re-signing him at that rate, and I think he would consider it. He seems like a reasonably smart guy, though I felt he was getting bad advice from his agent (and others talking in his ear) this year.

Just my 2 cents there.

It does sound like there is some “gambling” possibly in store with Trubisky, and I think it is foolhardy. Those Cleveland fans are going to burn the place to the ground if they don’t start making some headway.

I agree, but predicting “good” DL/LB is easier than predicting “good” QB’s.

This QB is far from a sure thing. The Aggie DE is a sure thing.

Garoppolo isn’t Matt Cassel II

Maybe not, but he may not necessarily be Aaron Rogers II, either. Inasmuch as the Patriots have a good eye for talent, it does speak well that they are trying harder to holdon to him than Denver did with Osweiler.

Dear Mr. Jimmy “the Dunce” Haslam,

Please, please, please, please, please, please, please, please, please take low first round QB prospect Mitch Trubisky first overall.

Thank You very much!

Sincerely,

A 49ers fan, anxiously hoping you are stupid enough to override you GM yet again and pull another hare-prained Johnny Football type draft move.

Seattle’s 2013 super bowl winning defense and Tampa Bay’s 2002 winning super bowl defense were both as historically great as the 2000 Ravens and 2015 Broncos. Seattle especially, losing by one stupid offensive play in 2014 to the Pats. Who knows, maybe Seattle’s D might have been called the best in history if they had won back to back.

He is very humble. Must not have been him. He should have gotten the Heisman!

LOL, well...I don’t know about Aaron Rogers II either! I could see him turning out like Drew Brees if he achieves. (Maybe not as high end, but up that branch of the quarterbacking tree)
