Asking for some advice - university officials pressuring me regarding FR and FB posts

Posted on 05/19/2017 7:08:01 AM PDT by Chengdu54

I'm a professor who often posts here and on FB. Two university officials are coming to my office today to speak with me about my posts. I told them this is a free speech issue. Feeling like I need legal advice. This is a public university.

Advice? Moral support?

Assuming you haven’t advocated any illegal conduct you should be able to tell them to go F. themselves.... but I am no lawyer so don’t rely upon my advice!

If you feel like you need legal advice you should talk to an attorney before you say anything to your employer. FR isn’t the place to get legal advice.

Look up Dr. Jordan Peterson and watch his videos. He was attacked by the University of Toronto - but they backed off. He is smart and inspirational.

It is entirely possible that academics moving to suppress speech, to deprive conservatives of their civil rights (and those harboring academics making death threats), may have committed federal offenses, including, but not limited to:

<><> Title 18 U.S.C. §1341, Mail Fraud, 18 U.S.C.§1001, Presenting a False Document to an Agent of the US Government for funding (may involve several felonies and could include forgery);

<><> 18 U.S.C.§1027 False statements and concealment of facts in relation to funding documents required by ERISA enacted 1974 and other possible offenses including civil and/or criminal RICO violations.

<><> 18 U.S.C. §§1961-68 (RICO Act)18 U.S.C. §1001 (making false Statements to Agents of the US Government regarding federal funding),

<><> 18 U.S.C. §241(Conspiracies Against Civil Rights). Violation of Civil Rights under Color of law and conspiracy. Conspiring with others to violate conservative students’ 4th amendment rights.

<><> Possibly full investigations centering on RICO conspiracies under 18 U.S.C. §1962(c) could be warranted because (1) the persons (2) were employed by or associated with a federally funded enterprise (3) that engaged in or affected interstate commerce and that (4) the persons operated or managed the enterprise (5) through a “pattern” (6) of racketeering activity, and (7) the taxpayers were injured by reason of the “pattern” of racketeering activity.

<><> Alleged Offenses could include Violation of Rights – which prohibits in relevant part, “two or more persons (from conspiring) to injure, oppress, threaten, or intimidate any person in any State, Territory, Commonwealth, Possession, or District

<><> Title 18 U.S.C. §2 41 – Conspiracy Against Constitutional mandates in the free exercise or enjoyment of any right or privilege secured by the Constitution or laws of the United States, or because of having so exercised the same . . .” See, 18 U.S.C. §241.

=========================================

Taxpayers demand the following agencies commence investigations of liberal campus activities at once:

<><> FBI — Wire Fraud Division

<><> IRS-Fraud Unit

<><> Department of Justice’s Office of the Inspector General,

<><> Department of Commerce’s Office of Inspector General.

<><> DOJ’s Criminal Division— Public Integrity Section

<><> DOJ Criminal Division—Organized Crime and Gang Section.

============================================

ACTION NOW-—Contact your Representative and Senators Capitol Switchboard 1-866-220-0044

TALKING POINTS: sever all public funds, including federal funds, until these institutions cease their discriminatory activity against conservative speakers, academics and conservative students.

These people seem to be on top of current campus issues. They know what they’re doing.

I think you’d better get the word out thru your local Media and conservative sites like this. Only way to make these little fascists back-off is adverse publicity. Be polite, but have a plan. Escalation dominance.

That is chilling. One would hope we are moving away from intimidating conservatives. Perhaps it will be a misunderstanding. Keep us in the loop and believe in yourself.

assuming your posts contain no derogatory statements about ethnic groups you should go exactly where you are already focused - your free speech rights. focus on the political content of your statements. and get a lawyer. i dont know if AAUP will help you or if they are the enemy. as i assume you are aware there are organizations that protect conservative academics. if you dont know of any reply to this and i will put you in touch.

Record the session if you can.

Start the conversation by asking what the Universities official policy is regarding free speech and censorship of speech.

Steer the conversation to asking them if they think that you have violated the Universities speech policy and to provide examples.

Do not answer any of their questions until they have answered yours.

How would anyone know of your posts? As a former university staff member, I would advise you to listen and even record what they -be polite and smile a lot.

I assume there is a staff/faculty representative and or union/association that could be asked to be present.

I would not say anything other than pleasantries and go from there.

Since they made mention of your personal and private posts, I would assume an adversarial atmosphere.

I am certain there are rules regarding use of time/equipment for personal activities, so be aware of them and know what limits/prohibitions on using university IT assets for personal use etc.

Record the conversation , make sure you state the free speech / 1st amendment aspect and make them explain why it concerns them. Do not let them know the conversation is being recorded ,, as there will be 3 of you there you’re fine ,,, if they threaten you in any way prepare for a legal fight ,, the left does it that way ,, so should we.. DESTROY THEM.
