Rape Victim Asks Judge To End Polanski Case

Samantha Geimer asked Los Angeles Superior Court Judge Scott Gordon to either dismiss the unlawful sex with a minor case against Polanski, or issue a sentence without Polanski present.

Gordon said at the end of Friday’s hearing that he would take the request under consideration, but did not indicate when he would issue a ruling.

The 54-year-old Geimer appeared in a downtown Los Angeles courtroom for the first time on the director’s behalf.

[Polanski] has been a fugitive since fleeing to France in 1978 after pleading guilty to having unlawful sex with a minor.

Sentencing must include stiff jail-time for his Unlawful Flight to Avoid Prosecution. Every year he spent in European luxury must be repaid and added to his sentence for rape.

No in absentia judicial action should occur with Polanski absent. He must stand before the judge and physically face the American Court he so arrogantly flipped the bird to almost forty years ago.

What a 54 year old woman says TODAY has absolutely no relevance to the fact that BY DEFINITION a 13 year old CHILD cannot be a consenting adult.

Even a hard core Libertarian will admit to such a thing (except for the NAMBLA perverts trying to exploit the Libertarian party for their sick agenda). You have to draw the line between adult and child somewhere, and i haven’t run across any Libertarians who want to play with the present definition...except for possibly lowering the drinking age to 18, where it should be for reasons that will not be explained on this thread.

Irrelevant. The age of consent in California has been 18 since 1913.

The wishes of the victim don’t enter into it - the law is the law, and Polanski deserves serious jail time. “Chinatown” is one of my favorite movies, but the man drugged and raped a child. He belongs in prison and it’s a disgrace that the nations of Western Europe have sheltered him for so long.

In my opinion, it was despicable what he did. and deserves some legal punishment.

But it was more of a jailbait scenario, rather than the kind of forcible kidnap/rape of a virginal pre-pubescent child that really deserves much more extreme punishment.

There are gradations, and extenuating or mitigating matters when it comes to human sexuality, that would make each case relatively more or less of an affront.

If you are making the argument that a 14 year old boy should not be prosecuted for having sex with a 14 year old girl that's one thing, but Polanski was 40, not 14.

In addition to that, the crime was not only against her, but against the People of California. They have weighed in on this through their elected representatives and legal system.

No one would be showing any consideration to this man if he was a 40 year old semi-toothless meth head living in a double wide who raped his 14 year old niece -- with or without her consent. IIRC her own mother acted as a procurer in this case, and she also should have faced some consequences.

Polanski (and the people who support him) believe that they get to live by a different set of laws than the ones society has created for all of us -- with our own consent.

That video is shocking. Polanski is a monster. No telling how many little girls he’s molested and damaged. He’s actually another Bill Cosby. I didn’t watch both parts or even all of this one part of the video. Did he mention drugging the girl?

The fact that the girl, now a woman, is trying to help Polanski is not surprising. Those who haven’t experienced sexual perversion as a child in any of its myriad forms have no conception, none, of how damaging it is, how it can warp a person’s whole life.
