No other major US ally has seen public confidence in the American president drop as significantly as Germany since Donald Trump took over in the White House in January.
German public confidence in the US president has dropped 75 percentage points in a year, a new survey by the Pew Research Center shows.
During Barack Obama’s final year in charge, German public confidence in the US President stood at 86 percent. But since Trump has taken over that figure has fallen to 11 percent, beating even the low of 14 percent during George W. Bush’s final year in power.
Meanwhile, German favorability to the US as a whole has dropped to 35 percent from 57 percent a year ago.
In all western European countries, public confidence in the US president has dropped sharply, after the extremely popular Obama presidency. In France, public confidence dropped from 84 percent to 14 percent in the last year; in the UK, it dropped from 79 percent to 22 percent. …

Am I supposed to be concerned about the opinions of folks in a country that is willfully committing suicide? A country that has twice elected Angela Merkel to lead them? Their disapproval of President Trump is very good news to me.
As a person going to Germany for R&R this summer, the only use I have for Germany is the women, other than that I care less for them.
Well, sheesh, they don’t like Pershing, they don’t like Patton, they don’t like Trump. Just no pleasing some people.

OK, well, I guess that’s it, we’re doomed. We beat their asses and then saved them from being gobbled up by the Russkies and now they have lost confidence in us? Cripes, they wouldn’t even be around today to “lose confidence” in us if we hadn’t defended them all those long, dreary Cold War years. They view us unfavorably all the while they are allowing hordes of barbarians...er...immigrants into their country to blow their asses up. What is wrong with these people, anyway? Too much schnitzel and beer rotted their brains?
A defeated country once ruled by the real Nazi socialists and a people welcoming in the destruction of their history and culture by an Islamic invasion? I take their disapproval as a badge of honour.
