I think you misinterpret what he means by “High-A while it lasts”.

29 isn’t old when you have been playing baseball consistently at a high level for most of your twenties. It is pretty old when you are trying to get back into it in your late 20s after being away from the game. Who knows, he is an athlete. Has he stolen any bases, is he fast?

I remember a story from when Michael Jordan was trying to play baseball. I THINK they started him at AA and he never moved from there. But anyway on one particular at bat he struck out (he often did). He went and sat down on the bench next to a veteran player who leaned over and asked, “Was that a two finger or a four finger pitch?”. Jordan looked at him like he had bugs crawling out of his ears and said, “You’re kidding?”.

He is packing stadiums and would do the same in the majors.

He could have done the same for an NFL team like Jacksonville.

There are MLB accountants that do not deserve their job.

Pro baseball is very good at grooming players for the top level. Tebow isn't ready. He may never be ready, but I hope he will be. In the mean time he's bringing in some good money for the minor leagues.

Tim Tebow played here in Lexington a couple weeks ago, and those games were quite popular locally. Especially the first one, where he made a catch in the ninth inning that won the game.

This is what I’m interpreting (quoting from the source):

Here’s where we pump the breaks a whole lot. He’s done that all in seven games after hitting a paltry .220 and a .648 OPS in 64 contests with Columbia. This run has been a blast to watch, but we all know what happens eventually: Tebow will fall to Earth, especially now that he’s playing at a level up, and we’ll all remember that he’s not great at baseball.

While it lasts? Why does the msm always have to be negative about Tebow? Because he is Christian?

I wish Tebow the best!!

But the sample size is small...

Only 16 at bats..........

...

True, but it shows potential, especially right after he got the promotion.

Re: Only 16 at bats..........

Plus 5 walks.

As I recall, walks do not count as an at bat.

He is nowhere near major league caliber...not even close. I like Tebow, but you need to fairly evaluate. Perhaps one day, but not now.

He a lefty. But, in his appearance in spring training wasnt that great.

I would put him in again at the next spring training to face some of the big time pitchers and see how he does.

Until then, work with him and see how it goes.

Long way to go for him.

same here and I’m at DAWG.

BTW, not once did we beat the gators when Tebow led the team.

I suspect both the fascination and hate comes from his Christian witness.

Never understood the fascination or hate for this guy.

That's OK, I never understood the fascination for any athlete or entertainer. Well Ok maybe fascination is wrong, I never understood the ridiculous adulation and cultism some give to athletes and entertainers.

Looks like his fielding is another major weak point, too. He ties all the combined outfielders on the team in errors.

No SB and only one 2B and one HR. The real issue is only 22 PA - simply not enough to be statistically significant.

Hope it's coming together for Tim. His stats with Columbia were not very good.

Like the majority of minor leaguers he has problems with his swing and fielding. Unlike most minor leaguers at 29 he doesn't have a few years to spend in the minors to work things out.

Yeah, there’s just not much there to crow about. He strikes out a lot, so when he doesn’t strike out he’s getting hits. I guess those working with him might see things beyond these numbers. I really would like to see him make it to the big leagues. But again I don’t think I’d put money on it.

Thanks for grabbing those stats btw. :)
