Here is the first "live thread" I experienced on FR.... as it happens I had registered on FR just 6 days before, 9/5/01....

first FR live thread on 9/11 attacks

I was actually watching and experiencing it "live" in horror from another tower in Manhattan that morning. We had a clear view of the WTC.... We were evacuated pretty quickly since our building was considered a potential target. I Knew people in the towers and lost a college classmate whose office was hit directly by the first plane. Crazy, evil times.... damn the jihadists and damn all who protect, rationalize, support, and enable them!!!

Jim is a good friend to him, but I haven’t seen any indication that it’s mutual. A friend wouldn’t go to such lengths to sabotage Free Republic.

I should say that FR thread I linked is “one of” the live threads of that day..... I recall there were others that were much more comprehensive, had a lot more comments and info. I will try to search for them....

You’re more than welcome, Right. I’m so glad your nephew worked a late schedule. It must have been hard on him to lose so many friends.

Not sure what you mean, CJ. Everything I put on YouTube comes off my videotapes, and those are in amazingly good condition for being 16 years old. All the tapes are digitized, and these pieces are edited with surrounding black so they’re each a project that gets separately saved and backed up. Our whole system sits on about 50 Terabytes of storage, which has to get backed up a lot because, with so many disks, we have fairly frequent disk failures. None of these 9/11 videos are on our website, which has its own standalone computer in a backroom in CT. All but these and the new Farscape set are on my website for downloading. If YouTube ever changes its policies about giving us copyright permission on lots of the stuff, I’m prepared for all 660 videos to be back using my website as the main source, as most of them remain there, and I’d add the two new sets.

My website runs to about 20,000 webpages between my personal site and my Henry Livingston site. I tend to be just a tad obsessive.
