The late San Francisco native Bruce Lee was honored Wednesday afternoon with a plaque at the Chinatown Hospital where he was born, presented by the makers of a new movie about him. Watch the preview above.
Presented by director George Nolfi and actor Phillip Ng, who is set to play Lee in Birth of the Dragon, the plaque commemorates Lees birth at Chinese Hospital in 1940.
It was presented during a 3:00pm ceremony in front of the hospital at 845 Jackson Street.
The film, set to open nationwide on August 25th, will be set in 1960s San Francisco and is inspired by a showdown between the young Lee and kung fu master Wong Jack Man.
Chinese Hospital is a non-profit facility catering to Chinatowns multicultural, multilingual community, with origins dating back to 1899.
The hospital celebrated the opening of a new 88-bed Patient Tower, replacing an original 1925 building, in April 2016.

Lee? Isn’t that racist?
>>Lee? Isnt that racist?<<
Yep. We can’t have anything named “Lee.”
Buncha damned racists...
Tear down that plaque!
It is not fair to Chuck Norris..... : )
He’d have been a lot better actor if he had lost the beard and not ordered Pickett’s Charge at Gettysburg. His agent warned him about that.
You would think the hospital that Obama claims he was born at would want to memorialize his birth with a plaque..........
It has since been razed by Ethiopians...
CHUCK NORRIS IS BORN AND GETTING HIS FIRST SPANKING.
What’s with Chinese Hospital?? Isn’t that discrimination??
Can you imagine any city with a Negro Hospital which dates its history back to the old days?? As long as we are so focused on all this, I think this is worthy of discussion.
a fresh new monument to fake hollywood globalist violence, to replace any stains of attempts to Rebel excess taxation as the Southern States did
I cannot think of anything more inane.
They had rules segregating the Chinese at one time.
This is pretty far off subject but the mention of "segregation" reminds me of the story. Sammy Davis Jr was on Johnny Carson's show and mentioned that when he first started playing in Las Vegas he was allowed to perform. But then after he was finished he had to drive to another part of town to stay because blacks weren't allowed in the big hotel/casinos. Poor Sammy, he died the same day as Jim Henson and got second billing in the obits.
There is a Chuck Norris Grill in Reykjavik.
Tired of the Bruce Lee myth . No documented footage of him ever being in a fight . When asked if he would fight any of the top full-contact karate guys of his time, Lee always mumbled something about not being ready, or that he was working on some new technique. His acting sucked. And on and on ...
Bwuce WeeWeelwy.
Rumor is Lee died when 4 Hells Angels surrounded him with chains to see if he could really fight. Turned out he couldn’t.
