As automation and artificial intelligence technologies improve, many people worry about the future of work. If millions of human workers no longer have jobs, the worriers ask, what will people do, how will they provide for themselves and their families, and what changes might occur (or be needed) in order for society to adjust? Many economists say there is no need to worry.

If most of your customer base is not working, how will you sell your product? Henry Ford knew that
Our new Robber Barons have the solution; guaranteed income from the gov’t.
The argument can be made that this time it is different. i.e. EVERY SINGLE OCCUPATION IMAGINABLE will be replaced.
This video is quite interesting and attacks the issue head on.

“Humans Need Not Apply”
Automation is not going to kill all jobs, if for no other reason than it would take 20 years working at full employment to build and integrate all those robots.
The rise of automation will generate new jobs that do not even exist now and create new fields of employment unless we institute a guaranteed income which will trap people in welfare
A guaranteed annual income will manufacture an idle welfare class and give rise to all the dysfunctionality the the current welfare system does
Our new Robber Barons have the solution; guaranteed income from the govt.
And machines don’t pay taxes to the federal treasury.
That’s good news. I read AI and assumed we were about be treated like beef ... Whew ...
Why do you need a customer base?
In fact, why would you need people?
The rise of automation will generate new jobs that do not even exist now
The video I posted previously is interesting...
Hopefully, the obnoxious Silicon Valley billionaires will be the first group replaced by their creations. Karma.
If I am making widgets, someone has to buy them.
If no one has the money to buy them, I won’t be making widgets very long.
I very much doubt that.
People are infinitely creative. People will find things to do.
People invent things that no one ever imagined that they needed and suddenly everyone needs it.
Can a computer that doesnt have feet imagine a need for shoes, socks or socks with toes?
Unless there are jobs where it is impossible to create processes that allows automation, I don’t see how humanity can keep up with computers and robots that double their intelligence and capacities every 18 months, or so.
It’s like that story where a Chinese emperor rewarded a peasent, for saving the emperor’s son, with one wish. He wished that, on the first day of the month, he gets a single grain of rice. Every subsequent day, his allotment of rice doubled, so the second day he received two grains of rice. On the third day, he received 4 grains. By the monthend, he owned all the rice in China.
Even if computers dont even have the intelligence of an amoeba right now, if their capacity doubled thirty times over over the next 50 years, would they really be that dumb?
The problem is that the whole underpinnings of free market capitalism rests on the ability of human A to provide value to human B such that human B will voluntarily give part of himself in exchange.
When all of our physical needs (shelter, food, medicine, travel, recreation, protection, etc...) are being provided by AI and automation, the value that other humans can provide to you shrinks to zero.
Money has historically been used as a measure of one’s value to others. This will have to change in the future and we will have to find a new system of distributing resources. I am honestly terrified of every possibility that my inferior mind can come up with.

The problem is that creativity must be nurtured. Computers ARE creative now. This is one of the things mentioned in the video. Also mentioned in the video is that we don’t need billions of creative people. And even then, most of the things created by people can be created by AI. And people need to be incentivized to create. When the system fights creativity, little happens. It’s why the soviets mostly just ripped off the inventions of the west.
What is about to happen is that AI will beat humans at virtually every single thing human beings endeavor to do. There may be a few humans that bring real value to the table, but eventually even thy will be replaced. It really is inevitable.
It’s one of the reasons I believe the Lord’s return will be soon. Either that or there will be a complete collapse of western civilization and we will start mostly from scratch.
