When I read the title, I was really surprised. It is extremely rare for men to sexually abuse their own daughter. It is usually a step-daughter or some other child that is not his daughter.
So I read the article.
Sure enough, it was an inappropriately truncated sentence that completely changed the facts of the case. The title should have said 6 year old girl, not six year old daughter. All girls are someone’s daughter and this girl was the daughter of one of his men, not his daughter.
Are the guys who write these articles really that stupid?
That’s a light sentence. Minimum 10 years without parole. Should be dishonorably discharged and thrown in the general population.

He is headed to Ft Leavenworth where he will still be considered an Officer and not required to do manual labor unless he chooses to do so. The prison there has many different shops such as printing, laundry, etc for the inmates to work in. Enlisted prisoners are required to work and officers normally get to work too after getting bored sitting in their cells all day. The prison is 8 or 10 stories tall as well and new inmates are on the top floor so they spend much of their break time on stairs going each way. Better behavior brings them down closer to the ground. Officers are kept separate from enlisted.

That is the most poorly written article I have tried to sort out in a while. It seems he was not convicted of sexually abusing the child? They list that with the charges he was not convicted of, so it seems he was not convicted on charges related to the girl.
The thing is even with the badly written article, he is a dirt bag. He sexually abuses children and women. He likely did most of what he was accused of if not all. It also makes me angry that his wife seemed to be trying to explain it away by saying he has PTSD and a serious alcohol problem. Nothing excuses his behavior and that poor little girl will have to live with this.
People who do this are sick, just sick. If he has other issues that may be; but those issues are not the cause of his sickness.

My complaint is strictly with the title being completely wrong. It might as well have been “Man accidentally runs over daughter”, when the whole story is “man accidentally runs over daughter’s Barbie car. They are two completely different stories.
And not to put to fine a point on it - the only reason I clicked on the link was because I thought a guy had sexually abused his own daughter. That story is so amazingly rare that It was worth opening. “Man sexually abuses 6 year old girl” is too common for me to bother reading it unless it affected someone I know personally.

Yes, I had to read it through a couple of times, but I think it was mainly because the title told such a different story. If the title had said “six year old GIRL” I would have been able to comprehend the sentence in the article much easier.
