I noticed the date on the “Auction and Negro sales” photo, too - it may not be in error. The building may have just been abandoned and the signs remained unchanged well into Reconstruction.

Slide number 4 is very wrong.
1) that’s one of their gliders, it has no motor or propellers.
2) The original flyer had the geometry reversed; rudder and elevator were in front.
3) The original flyer had the pilot prone, not seated.
4) first flight was December 17, 1903.

When I was a child, my parents were killed in an accident by a truck hauling rare historical photos.

Ever since then I have had an aversion to rare historical photos.

The second picture couldn’t be people leaving the Titanic. They must have been leaving the ship that rescued them.

I thought of that possibility, too. That was not the implied inclusion of the photo though. If I recall, the door was open, not shut, and the windows looked clean.

Awesome, thank you. My mom with Alzheimer’s really enjoyed those and so did I.
