A mother was left fuming after 12 'scary' vegan activists 'intimidated' her four children during a protest in a supermarket meat aisle.
Louise Kirby, from Bolton, Greater Manchester, said placard-waving protesters scared nine-year-old daughter Sophie so much that she suddenly declared herself a vegetarian in the Sainsbury's.
The Bolton Chicken Save activists stood silently with placards in front of meat fridges, frightening the mother-of-four as they uploaded a video of the family shopping to the internet.
The 38-year-old said her usual weekly shop took a sinister turn when she told Sophie about the meat on offer in the supermarket as activists stared intently.
'It was really surreal,' she said. 'I had my head in the shelves and told her about some of the bargains they had when she suddenly said "I’m vegetarian, I don’t eat anything here".
'I laughed and said "don’t be silly, since when?".
'I looked up and at that point I felt the atmosphere change - you could cut it with a knife - it was really scary.
The group - who held placards plastered with slogans and animals - were escorted from the store after a member of staff intervened.
But as they were led out, one activist turned and pointed at Mrs Kirby's children, saying: 'We’re only here to save the babies and children.’

An assault. The cops should have been called. Supermarkets by me have a ‘no pictures or videos allowed’ sign at the entrance.
This reminds me if protesters in the parking lot used for the Clyde Beatty circus 15 or so years ago. They were trying to ban the use of animals for entertainment. One older lady stepped up to my car window and gave me her prepared speech. I told her “lady.....I hunt down, kill, butcher and eat my own deer at least once a year. These animals in the circus have it pretty sweet. 3 squares, a clean place to sleep. Plus they get to be in show business”
Disagree! Circus animals are beaten into submission and live miserable lives. Their lives are never sweet. Ever hear the saying “just shoot me?” Putting them out of their misery would be more humane.
If these so called animal lovers were as hysterical about the abortion of human babies they might be credible. Their vindictive anti-human sentiments are nothing more than adolescent foppery.
Mom should file a civil suit against Sainsbury’s and another one against the perps.

I’ve decided that if I ever see a PETA group picketing KFC, I’m buying a bucket and eating it on the curb right next to them. I might even share if they want some.
In the grocery, I’d be tempted to grab a steak, rip it open and take a healthy bite out of it right in front of them to watch them run screaming.
You think the animals volunteer because of their love of show biz. Love those chains!

All these groups that show pictures of animals and claim they are sad, that they have feelings.
After all, animals are just people in little fur coats.

Funny story to tell: when my daughter was in 5th grade, her classmate became a vegetarian (as was her Mother) and started a preaching campaign at lunch. Little E had a ham sandwich for lunch and the girl said, “Don’t you feel bad? A pig was killed so you could eat THAT instead of something else. The pig could have had babies”. Without a beat, little E said, “Don’t worry.. I think they killed the babies too (and took a HUGE bite of her sandwich saying YUMMMM... baby pig”. The girl ran away in tears. I still LOL today about it. :)
Humans evolved to eat meat and vegetables. Those who choose to eat no meat can do so. Forcing others to conform is fascism.

Your daughter rocks; great story. FWIW, I can imagine my daughter (now 24) doing something similar as a kid. Great image.
She’s a hoot even now and when she came home and told me this... I laughed so hard that my sides ached. The other girl had to go to the counselor because she wouldn’t start crying and I can only imagine how that conversation sounded!
