I’ll admit I haven’t heard of a lot of his projects. I figure if you wrote his manager and offered $5k for him to come to your home, sit on your lawnmower and recite some “Hamlet”, he’d be game.

Netflix always does small releases. Generally in the art houses. That’s where I saw it yesterday. They’re really just gunning to be movie award eligible instead of just TV award, and a bit of change on those that want to see things on the big screen. Not looking for a big splash or long run. El Camino only did a weekend. That’s their model. Theatrical is nothing more than an add for the service.

Of course they do. Not through theatrical. But that’s not the business model. The theatrical releases are just to get awards, which are free advertising for the service. That’s what it’s all about. If you want to get $100 million theatrically you need to get at least 20 million butts in seats. To make $100 million from monthly subscribers, you need a small fraction of that who sticks around a couple months. They don’t put their movies out on DVD either. They are Netflix exclusives. That’s how they make the money back on EVERYTHING they produce. Including the Irishman. The theatrical release was just a commercial, a commercial they get PAID for. It’s beautiful really.

Hard to think of Deniro as anything but unwatchable, ever since his debut as a coward and a Trump basher.

Robert De Niro, the guy we all watched in our younger years but now recognize as a coward.

Part of that is we now fully realize what scum these mafia people are. De Niro played a coward on screen all those years, as it turns out he fits the bill in real life.

There’s only one character trait required to be in a gang—across the spectrum from the old Italian mafia to biker gangs to MS13.

The trait is cowardice.

Also helps if your mental style is groupthink.
