NEW WILMINGTON, Pa. (WKBN) – An Amish teen from New Wilmington is facing DUI charges as a result of a traffic stop earlier this month.
John Byler, 19, was pulled over around 7:30 p.m. October 1 in the borough. He was in an Amish buggy and didn’t have the required lights activated, according to the New Wilmington Police Department.
Police said an officer ordered Byler to turn on the buggy’s lights. Finally, investigators said he did so but appeared to be struggling to control the horse.

You can get a DUI on a horse, lawnmower, bicycle,most anything.
I wonder how you get a horse and buggy to swerve in traffic. I would think it would be pretty much straight and full steam ahead. You can’t really speed. Hmmmm. A bit of oiverkill methinks. Get relatives to come and get him in another buggy is what I would have done.

The judge threw it out, but gave him a “stern warning” about public intoxication.
I’m sure he could have done much damage to innocent tubers.
This is up near where my brother lives. The local Wal-mart and Aldi’s have hitching posts.
I say, “ horseshit!” No matter hiw drunk the kid is, if the horse isn’t drunk then there is no crime. He could be passed out in the back and the horse would get him home safely and never kill another horse or human in a head-on collision.
