My daughter and I were hiking on a Red Rocks trail a week prior to this on September 30 and were warned by a little Mexican guy that there was a rattlesnake on the trail at the top. And two ladies coming down the trail told us of a bullsnake they had seen.
I didn’t think people still died of rattlesnake bites.
Wait. How can it hurt to suck the poison out? I still have those old snake bite kits with the spring loaded syringe.
Rattlesnake bite isn’t usually fatal in an adult. Maybe all those psych drugs he was fooled into taking weakened his system.
I haven’t yet read the article, but I know that if you get bit in the wrong place you will more than likely die.
I was surprised, too. Especially to learn that he wasn’t super far from town. I guess it was remote enough, though.
Killed a small one Yesterday.
Some people are more susceptible than others, as some are allergic to bee stings.
Maybe he was simply more susceptible than most.
speaks to the dangers associated with an uncommonly late rattlesnake season.

What an ass. Who sees a rattler on a well used public trail and doesn’t kill it? I just don’t understand people.
Dont give out these safety tips! Conservatives already know them and we dont want any big city slicker democrats to learn them.
I’ve run across rattlers on two hikes in parks here in the SF Bay Area and just gave them room and let them cross the path. I didn’t kill either of them.
“I didnt think people still died of rattlesnake bites.”
This poor whackjob did.
Glad you didn’t come across the critter.
That’s right. Put up a sign:

“A friend was recently bitten by a pygmy rattler. Cost her 5 days in intensive care and 8-$5000 anti-venom shots.”
I’ve lived in such poisonous snake rodeo states as Texas, Mississippi, Virginia, and Arizona (have a townhouse in southern AZ). Anyone who is not FULLY aware of snakes is a fool. This goes doubly for those who through their stupidity put their dogs in harms way. Nature is very unforgiving.

I saw a woman in Oro Valley, AZ go out of her way to run over one of those devils. Only winged it. Did a u turn, came back and finished the job.
