Slapped cop throws devastating punch at female football fan

MIAMI GARDENS, Fla. — Police are investigating a videotaped altercation where an apparently intoxicated University of Miami football fan slaps an officer, who then punches her in the head.

She flails at one officer and misses, then slaps him in the face. He hits her in the head with his right fist, causing her to crumble in the officers’ arms as she is carried out of camera range.

Second, the loaded language shows the writers bias. She “slaps”, he “punches”...devastatingly.

That slap wasn't exactly a love tap, either. Maybe she had rings on her finger, or long nails. This one falls under "Play Stupid Games, Win Stupid Prizes" in my book.

Huh? Ever hear of self defense? Too bad for her she hit someone twice her size.

"Self defense" implies the use of an appropriate level of force to prevent damage to self. She slaps the top of his head as they are carrying her off, and a man twice her weight punches her full-force in the face. Grossly disproportionate.

I think they’re actually trained that if your going to punch a perp, do it once and make it count. needing multiple strikes to subdue someone that’s being detained becomes, say, rodney king.

I support the cops in most cases but this was a ridiculous punch....

are cops snow flakes now, that they strike at a helpless drunk girl as if she was a mass murderer....

I've heard some outlandish stories from guys who worked the security detail at a major sports venue some years ago. The general rule of thumb was that if they had to drag you out of your seat and out through the tunnel underneath the stands, you were going to have a very bad night. The criminal justice system was so overloaded back then that the police wouldn't even bother arresting these drunk and disorderlies, so the security staff would take you down to a holding cell and give you a real tuneup before turning you loose outside the stadium. LOL.
