An actual actress was filmed in the role of Snow White, then the animators drew from that film one frame at a time, creating an animated character with natural movements, especially the eyes & mouth when she was singing.

One of the best movies ever made.

Before it came out they called it Disney’s Folly. Said it would bankrupt the studio.

It made more money than any other movie up to that time. He put all the money in to making a new studio facility, the one they still use in Burbank, and making more high quality expensive films. Disney always re-invested the money to make bigger and better things, taking great chances.

The world would be different if he had lived just ten more years.

Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs was Hitler’s favorite movie. So much so that he ordered the German film making company UFA-Film GmbH (Ufi), to out do Disney with high budget fantasy and other films.

One of the best is Münchhausen (1943), a fantasy comedy, which is one of the few movies out there that every version of which is good. It can be purchased from Kino Lorber, which has done a good restoration with English subtitles.

If they were filming this today as live action, the dwarves would probably be normally sized actors filmed in either forced perspective, green screen or both, as seen in Peter Jackson's Tolkein movies.
