In a Senate-floor speech Saturday, Sen. Tammy Duckworth (D-Ill.) blasted President Trump as a “five-deferment draft dodger” and accused him of trying to bait North Korea into a war, putting both the military and the national security of the United States at risk.
It was a moment of fire for Duckworth, a veteran who lost both of her legs in 2004 while serving in the Iraq War, and who has advocated for military and disability issues since she was elected to national public office in 2012.
Duckworth said Saturday her speech was prompted by a tweet Trump had posted Saturday morning accusing Democrats of “holding our Military hostage” to have “unchecked illegal immigration.” The tweet was just one of many partisan attacks Trump launched over the weekend trying to blame Democrats for a congressional budget stalemate that had led to a shutdown of the federal government.
That Trump would accuse Democrats — like herself — of not caring about the military was galling, Duckworth said.

Considering the high price she paid in battle, you’d think she would be grateful to finally have a Commander-in-Chief who is doing his utmost to equip and empower our troops to achieve ultimate victory!!!
It’s horrible to see all the brave warriors literally sacrifice limbs—not to mention their very lives—who have been heretofore forced to fight with one arm tied behind their back. Moreover, so many have served multiple tours of duty in the endless struggle against Radical Islamic Terrorism.
Duckworth ought to thank the Dear Lord for President Trump whose determination to rebuild our dilapidated armed forces along with his new rules of engagement, have made such great strides in defeating ISIS, etc.
Ask John Kerry, and also John McCain.

Duckworth is a Democrat political hack and a bitter one at that.
My son and son-in-law both fought in Iraq (and one in Kosovo), and I mean “fought” (Operation Ripper for the Marines). My son was a bridge-builder and countersniper sharpshooter and he did shoot.
Neither of them are bitter about anything. They’re still “soldiers” even if they don’t wear the uniform today.
Duckworth is worthless as a politician because she surrendered her identity and brain to the Democrats a long time ago.
