The analyst believes the Alabama quarterback will live up to the hype.
Trent Dilfer is ready to make his 2018 Heisman Trophy pick.
The former NFL quarterback-turned analyst has seen enough from Alabama freshman Tua Tagovailoa to believe that hell win college footballs most-prestigious award next season.
Dilfer made his pick during an appearance on The Rich Eisen Show on Wednesday.
I think hell win the Heisman next year, Dilfer said, per 247Sports Brad Crawford. Everyones going to say, Thats hyperbole. Dilfer raving about an Elite 11 kid. I got a bunch of Elite 11 kids. Jake Fromm was an Elite 11 kid. I think this kid (Tagovailoa) is as special as any kid since Jameis Winston. Because hes at Alabama because hell have to compete this spring no matter what. Nicks going to demand it, and hes going to continue to get better. Because theyll now run an offense that makes sense and threatens all parts of the field.(about damn time).
The runners will be better because theyll have lanes to run in. The offensive line will be better. Theyll convert more third downs, and their defense will be better. Alabama will be the best team in the country, and hell be the best player on the best team in the country.
Dilfer had worked with Tagovailoa before at his Elite 11 camp for high schools top quarterbacks. The former NFL quarterback had previously called Tua probably the most gifted passer Ive seen at this age.
Alabama will likely start the 2018 season ranked No. 1 in the country with Tagovailoa named as a Heisman Trophy frontrunner. Good luck living up to all of that hype.

I think Dilfer is one of the best in-depth football analysts. I loved what he did with the Elite-11 program on the NFL network. It’s pretty amazing that almost 80% of NFL quarterbacks went through Elite 11.
Hey ... stranger things have happened. Dilfer won a Super Bowl even.
If they do go, you can still sell them and pay off your daughter's tuition. You can watch the game at home and not have to wait in line to pee.........
She’s on a full tuition scholarship!
Then pay off the house!
One half of football does not make for a Heisman Trophy. Yet the Hawaiian Tide seems to have the “it” factor.
From the way the Dawgs played in that game it looked like they spent all of their practices prepping against Jalen Hurts.
Tuu came into the game and completely dominated the Ga. defense.
That's been a good defense for many, "make Jalen pass the ball."
The Georgia offense was dominated 2nd half too. Georgia won the 1st half, Alabama won the 2nd half and overtime.
Shes on a full tuition scholarship!
Academic?
My oldest daughter got a full academic scholarship from Alabama. She graduated with honors and is now off my payroll and making her way in the world. Should be making in the 6 figure range by 26. Not too shabby.
An interesting thing about Alabama. The state offeres several Crimson Tide license plates. The money the university make from this ($15m/yr IIRC) is used to fund the sholarship program. They want smart kids and a 32 on your ACT will get you in.

She got a 35 on her ACT. Wanted a stereotypical college exprience and then grad school.
She’s double majoring in Communications Disorders and psychology with a minor in theater. She’ll get a masters in Speech Pathology.
Duke was a top choice before she visited it. She was so turned off by the whole game of getting into a top private school that she stopped looking at them.
She was also able to afford a wonderful study abroad to Oxford this past summer.
She’s loved Bama, and we do too.
My husband is ready to move to the area.
