A Miami mother of a seven-year-old boy expressed outrage on Saturday when she saw her son handcuffed by police after he is said to have hit his teacher and then taken to a mental institution.
Mercy Alvarez was in tears as she saw her son leave the principal’s office at the Coral Way K-8 Center in Miami escorted by a police officer on Thursday.
The officer handcuffed the boy after school officials said he was acting up.
The incident was reported by the Miami Herald.
Alvarez has permitted the media to show her son's face. She has also stated her desire for the media to disseminate the distressing footage of her son being led away in handcuffs.

I suspect it’s because of how he was raised.
Kids shouldn’t hit teachers.
Not a new concept. And, for various reasons, a fair number of children these days are actually crazy and dangerous. It’s a fact. Ignoring possible facts is a bad idea.
That said, I dislike government run schools. I’d prefer private schools.
Why, everyone knows that getting punched in the face is just part of the job for being a police officer. /s
Handcuffs for a violent assault charge are or should be standard operating procedures.
i went to cath school years ago, this kid would have been “your outta here.” One reason cath schools were so good in the 50s and 60s was they simply booted out any trouble makers.
Surely the nuns taught the difference between “your” and “you’re”.
I’d be curious what the psych exam determined. Sounds like a troubled young man with an enabling mom.
Booted out? Come on the Nuns would have puled out that ruler and gone to town on this kid! He never would have hit them and had he did he would be dealing with Mother Superior and not the police, that was far worse.

That smarmy garden slug with a bad combover was a loudmouth antagonistic POS who would decide at the start of the year if you would pass his class, and he said so.

On the first day of school.
If a teacher isn't legally allowed to hit a child even after being assaulted by him, then you're damn right the kid should be dragged away in handcuffs ... preferably with his elbows cuffed together behind him.
If the lady thinks this is wrong, then she should contact her State Representative.

Yes I think both are wrong, them arresting and her filming. In my day the school principal would have got out her “electric paddle” and whacked his butt. That would have been the thing to do, put an end to his nonsense long ago.

The “teacher” in this story should have his ass kicked by his students.... I would post their bond. Gladly.
In Milwaukee’s inner city schools (MPS), hitting a teacher, slamming doors on a teachers’ foot, breaking bones is common place and routinely covered up. Nothing is done to the student perp. The teacher can either continue to teach at MPS and endure or quit and go elsewhere.
