-The same tyrants who capitalize on and leverage victims of a mass murder to march on DC for their own nefarious purpose of disarming the citizenry.

Gun seizure can happen here - ask the Sioux of Wounded Knee how it went (and the confiscators got many Congressional Medals of Honor for it.)

I would like to see a counter proposal to gun control that would work. The reason terrorists or crazies go after schools, theatres, malls, etc., is because they are soft targets. Perhaps we could allow a few teachers in every school to be armed. They could attain their conceal and carry licenses, undergo intensive training and evaluation and then be placed in strategic areas in every school. This would be a far cheaper and better alternative to gun control laws. We have the guns and I suspect we would have the volunteers in most schools to take on the responsibility. It would make it harder for shooters to target because they would know that they would get resistance. It might drive them to other areas, but it would serve as a funnel for Law Enforcement to observe. That is how it is done in Israel, and they have far more targets per foot than any country on earth. It doesn’t mean that you won’t have some suicide murderers, but at least it will take away incentive for most of them. This is just subject for thought and discussion. All of the other “solutions” that we are hearing are knee jerk, emotional responses and won’t accomplish anything but more murders.

It could never happen here.

The government wouldn’t even dare use its intelligence and police powers to spy on political opponents, so what makes you think they’d use guns against them?

Should be obvious but just in case...

I’ll go one better than that. Make firearm instruction mandatory for anyone seeking employment as a public school educator and firearm carry on campus a requirement for teaching and administrative staff. Include mandatory annual qualification in proficiency on a CQC range. This would accomplish two things. First, it would eliminate public schools from being murder zones as they currently are and second, it would, over time, greatly diminish and/or reverse the anti-gun slander that is so prevelant now.

Your solution is in place at a Texas school, according to a recent post on FR. Sensible.

Can you find out the name of the school or link to the article? Thanks. I am trying to do sensible research on it to answer the emotional outbursts and also to perhaps publish my own article (my brother is a book writer and we are collaborating.) He is a liberal and I am conservative. I have a conceal and carry and do carry everywhere that it is legally possible, including Churches, Synagogues, etc...

Sorry, I’ve looked back in history (the last 4-5 days) and not able to find it, searching the stories on school shootings. It was only a comment within a posted article. It spoke of a school in Texas (Dallas?) where a small number of teachers with carrry permits were trained to serve as protection if need arose. It seemed a simple and effective solution.

"Can you find out the name of the school or link to the article? "

I'll let you do your own search, but I thought a read in the last several years that Utah had adopted a policy allowing teachers with carry permits to carry in the classroom.

I find it beyond ironic that the anti-gunners are convinced that there is no justification for owning an AR-15; that they are only useful for killing people. Just seconds after hearing some liberal spout this nonsense, the camera panned past a policeman standing in a street outside the Florida school holding what appeared to be one of those dreaded "assault weapons". Yet, I didn't see anyong around him panicking due to the idea that the cop was about ready to kill a bunch of people.

Those who are curious about what schools should look like need to go visit a modern police or sheriff's office. The public first encounters maybe two or three people behind bullet-proof glass. All other personnel are located behind armored doors and entrance is tightly controlled.

We will know that we have done the right thing with schools when mass shootings at schools happen as often as mass shootings at police stations.
