I suspect a mod is a little too sensitive about the fact that D.O. Stiers was a known homosexual.
I had no idea he was and really never paid much attention to him after MASH.
Dare I mention a stellar performance on Frasier as a gay man? In a very funny episode where Eddie, the dog, stole the show.
As the Christmas song says...I know it’s been said many time, many ways...but I’ll say again...I do not care if someone is gay, I object to having to be happy about it.
Did not watch TV during the MASH heyday, and was never interested in the re-runs seen periodically. How could they compete wtih the movie? Later on coming to despise Alan Alda only cemented my lack of interest.
Seems to have a solid following though, sort of like that NYC Steinfish series, or whatever it was.
Sure Burns was funny, but he was a lousy doctor and arrogant and childish.
Winchester was arrogant, but it was because he was a great doctor, and he knew it.
He could be pompous, but he could also show real heart.
Like the episode where go goes to the front lines and talks with a dying soldier.
"I have to know what you are feeling"
Soldier: "I smell bread", then he dies.
That scene always stayed with me.
Dying from bladder cancer is actually not common. It must have been going on for years before they caught it. It is very slow growing.
My favorite movie. I’ve given that movie to friends who just look at me funny.
He was great in that movie.
How long did that take? About ten minutes?
Same here.
Thank you for the info. I too wondered what happened.
I got here just now. I was wondering also. But then I was able to see that it was all over a question of personal rectitude. C’est la vie.
Plus I resent pompous jerks showing open contempt for us "breeders", such as my gay uncle's "friend" who died of ARC within a couple of years after I met him.
They like to pretend that being gay is not only perfectly acceptable, but also perfectly normal and we all know, without being hateful, that it is NOT at all normal.
One of my favorites. Good soundtrack.
I want my two dollars!
He was a good actor.
I don’t care that he was gay. He wasn’t the in your face, over the top type. It was a part of who he was but not his whole identity like a lot of gay actors.
Just as ILLary is completely comfortable with being a crook and a psychopath. She,like the many freaks in showbiz ,has never had a sleepless night in her life.
Yes, and it's passing strange to see your very point having to be fought out on Free Republic, of all places.
BC can go undetected if the person is asymptomatic or ignores hematuria and other symptoms. It is also more common than you believe, perhaps because it often has an environmental etiology and is not as popularized as breast cancer.
However, if detected in the more invasive stages, it can appear to progress rather quickly, and the mortality rate is regrettably higher than you may think.
