Texans not interested in signing players who kneel: agents
New York Post ^ | 3/5/2018 | Justin Terranova

The Texans are becoming the face of the anti-kneeling portion of the NFL.

The Houston Chronicle spoke to two agents who said the team would not consider signing players who were seen kneeling during the national anthem. The report states that it’s not a directive from within the organization, but there is an understanding of which players Houston should pursue in free agency.

It’s not Texans owner Bob McNair’s first foray into this controversy. McNair, according to ESPN, said in a league meeting last season that the league was letting “inmates running the prison.” Texans star receiver DeAndre Hopkins skipped a practice after the reports became public in late October and many other players considered walking out.

McNair apologized to the team, arguing the “inmates” comment was not referencing players, though the Chronicle reports few on the team believed him. Texans players knelt and/or linked arms before their next game.

Texans games might be the only exception to the #NFLboycott rule.

The whiny, pampered players don’t grasp the concept of having a boss.

‘Into this controversy’

Media cliche alert. Media false premise alert.

To paraphrase John Rambo there wouldn’t be any controversy except the for the idiot players.

Texans not interested in signing players who kneel: agents

I predicted precisely this during all the smart-ass player shenanigans last season.

A lot of these NFL players who thought their sh-t didn't stink when they were kneeling during the anthem and disrespecting the country and its flag last year are going to suddenly find out that many teams are no longer interested in their services—and the associated loss of money that their unpatriotic antics would cause.

Good for the Texans—and I hope the rest of the NFL team owners get the message out: if you're going to drive away fans and cost your team money by kneeling for the anthem, your professional services won't be in as much demand as you might wish.

Karma is a b-tch...

I hate headlines like this. Upon first reading, they sound like a statement of fact. After the semi-colon, you find out that it’s just some claim by an unrelated person or media outlet. Low information folks probably take it for fact, which is the goal of the disinformation media.

The Texans released an official statement denying it. It is fake news.

Whether this is a formally declared policy or not, any players who kneel for the anthem undeniably cost their team money. Angry fans will either boycott the league altogether, or at least tend to not buy tickets and gear, and also stop watching the NFL on TV. This all adds up to a tangible and non-trivial loss of revenue for everyone involved.

There's no doubt in my mind that many of the more well-managed and prudent teams will hesitate—or altogether avoid—signing players who are likely to engage in conduct detrimental to the team.

Such selfish players cost their team revenue, and they cause distraction and disunity in the locker room. Since winning games and making money are the main reason for having the team in the first place, an anthem-kneeler should make any competent management group hesitate to hire such a toxic employee.

“McNair apologized”.

We former fans are not apologizing. The boycott continues.

btw if McNair wants to apologize to the fans it is too late. The Quisling toothpaste is out of the tube.

I agree with you completely. I was only addressing the dishonest fake news headlines. This type is used against PDJT frequently. Later other nmedia outlets (mis) quote the first media....and so it goes on and on.

Too bad this is nothing but unattributed speculation. It would appear we have plenty of reason to doubt it’s veracity as well.
