Thursday is International Womens Day, leading many people across the world including in Germany to reflect on women's rights. One big-name store, however, is using the day of women to rebrand itself and not everyone is happy about it.
Rossmann, Germanys second largest drugstore chain, will exist under a new name for March 8th only: Rossfrau. Rossfrau, a play on the word Frau, meaning woman in German, will replace the male-centric name Rossmann on their online site as well as at their largest store in Hanover. The one day gender change for Rossmanns name was announced on February 26th, and is a part of a larger ten-day campaign by the drugstore with the slogan Let the Woman Out! [ ]
Reactions to Rossmanns campaign ahead of International Womens Day displayed mixed feelings from females across Germany. While many customers applauded the action as a celebration of femininity, others saw the name change as more counterproductive. [ ]
Elvira Nickmann of the Hamburger Abendblatt noted that Rossmanns categorization of women is a prime example of outdated gender role stereotypes and suggests that Rossmann should instead use International Womens Day for training on gender equality.
Many women in Germany are also voicing their doubt about Rossmanns real commitment to gender equality in the economic realm. In a term coined as the Pink Tax, women regularly pay more for female-marketed items in drugstores like Rossmann than their male counterparts pay for nearly identical products marketed for men. This was seen in December 2017 in a study conducted by the German federal Anti-Discrimination Agency (ADS).

Tugend Signalisierung
Maybe they should call it Rosspersonn from now on.
Who flipped the switch to signal this latest insanity? Looks like they’ve managed to install Stepford CEO’s worldwide. Weird stuff, but feminists lap it up. I note our fine FReminist contingent has been silent on the matter.
Rossburka
Rotburka
Pfffft, but at least they didn’t flip their logo and make it look like a massive camel toe or really saggy boobs.
In Russia, Woman’s Day is a combination of St. Valentine’s Day and Mother’s Day. It has nothing to do with feminism.
A few weeks ago was “Men’s Day.” I got chocolate pistols and hand grenades as gifts.
That cannot be, since it was established by the Bolsheviks who were anti-religion.
Why are they so binary????? They are discriminating against the 23 other genders!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I keep searching, but I still have not found out when International Men’s Day is.
And women are going to become wowoos for Wymyn’s Day.
Apparently, it’s November 19.
What is being “celebrated” today is a holiday of the USSR, which the UN adopted in 1975.
I guess it is better than changing the name to Rossho
So insanity isn’t just here in the USA. Everyone’s going to think this is just silliness, but wait until next year, after the feminazis have had 364 days to think up something even more outrageous. We already have a restaurant logo placed upside-down. Will they demand compulsory sex “change” operations for males?
Well, isn’t that special.
How do they feel about Hermann Göring? Is that OK, because it has Her first?
How about Martin Bormann?
Surely that must be changed to Martin Borfrau.
This is USSR-engendered insanity writ large. The Soviet Union never broke up; it actually expanded.
I was being sarcastic. Surprised there is such a day designated.
Thanks, I did not know that about International Women’s Day.
I can understand the sarcasm. When I was looking up the facts on IWD (which got my inner cynic going), one of the incidental search terms was IMD, which is just as left-wing in its outlook.
