No team in their right mind would ever trade a 28yr old Madison Bumgarner.
He's the best playoff pitcher in the history of baseball. And a solid workhorse in the regular season.
Past Performance Is Not Indicative Of Future Results.
it is when they’re a 28 year old pitcher
The question is, by the time the team is good again, will he still be good? If not, then trading should be an option.
“No team in their right mind would ever trade a 28yr old Madison Bumgarner.”
The Pittsburgh Pirates would trade him in a heartbeat given all of the financial flexibility, years of control, promises of a bright future that never comes, and other garbage they can shovel to their (dwindling) fan base when obtaining multiple fringe prospects for players that have the audacity to be paid what they’re worth.
You said “No team in their right mind though ... “ ... seeing that the Pirates have no desire to win, they’re certainly not in their right mind ... so nevermind :-).
(PS The Pirates traded Gerrit Cole to Houston for a 4 pack of nonsense ... of course, they’re labeling him as a “clubhouse cancer” up here in the media since the Pirates FO looks like a pack of frigging morons giving him away for nothing ... McCutchen is off to a slow start, but that’s the norm for him ... he WILL catch fire)
ROTFLMAO!
The problem is that there are several other teams *cough* Rangers *cough* that find themselves in the same situation.
Back when Houston did it, they were pretty much the only team that did it, so they could load up.
Hilarious
That is one of the stupidest things I've ever heard. This Olney must be paid by the Dodgers or something.
Look, the Giants WILL struggle this year. Why? WEAK starting rotation excepting Bumgarner and maybe somebody else and THE WORST bullpen in baseball.
How did they win the WS three times? PITCHING. Why were they in the cellar last year? NO PITCHING. Why will they be lousy this year? NO PITCHING.
Somebody get a clue.
“Bumgarners final World Series line sparkles: 2-0 with a save and a 0.43 earned run average, with nine hits, one run, one walk and 17 strikeouts in 21 innings. Add in 15 scoreless innings in earlier victories, against Texas in 2010 and Detroit in 2012, and you get a 0.25 E.R.A. that ranks as the best in World Series history, minimum 25 innings.”
Tell me you’re kidding.............
I'm not sure he's the best playoff pitcher in history.
He had one of the great post seasons as a pitcher in 2014.
“Look, the Giants WILL struggle this year. Why? WEAK starting rotation excepting Bumgarner and maybe somebody else and THE WORST bullpen in baseball.”
The Giants bullpen has been outstanding. And, once Bumgarner returns to join Cueto and Smardijia, they will be one of the best rotations in baseball.
Right now they have the 6th best ERA in MLB.
I bet the Giants wished they traded Tim Lincecum when he was 28.
And of course the idiot Rangers thought he could still pitch.
He IS on the 60 day DL. But is expected back at the end of May.
Blisters on his throwing hand.
The Rangers would not have signed him if he couldn’t still pitch.
When I was having lunch the other day they flashed “is Lebron the best NBA player ever?”
That is how far sports analysis has fallen.
Lebron doesn’t even crack the top 25. He is at least 5 behind Kobe. We can argue Magic vs. Michael (and other notables) all day but I mean WTH????
Lebron may be the best player today but that is like being the best yodeler in Harlem.
Basketball players today can’t actually play basketball. And sadly the infection has permeated college.
What’s the point, the Rangers are the worst team in baseball.
