“Save or Perish” (French “Sauver ou périr”), the motto of Paris firemen.
Vive la France!

So why didnt the man standing 1 foot from the kid on the balcony reach over to grab him?

When they assimilate, there is NO PROBLEM.

It was amazing-——but shows how easily someone can get to an upper floor deck.

It took some strength to haul the kid back up over the ledge. Gassama made it look easy but he looks like he could bench press a Shetland pony. Also, he needed leverage. Notice that when he gets to a certain point, he has the reach to be able to get a handhold beyond the ledge itself. He’s a fairly big guy.

That’s just what someone on another site said. They said people will be locking their balcony doors!
And that was just an amazing video.

A job on the fire brigade is fitting. He has already proved his bravery.

So why didnt the man standing 1 foot from the kid on the balcony reach over to grab him? Maybe, like Dirty Harry once said, "A man has got to know his limitations," and he was afraid he'd drop the kid instead of save him.

Yes, bravo for saving the kid but... It seems kind of contrived. Why didn’t someone simply grab the kid from above? Where were the adults in the other apartment? That guy climbed it with such speed and confidence it was almost as if he had practiced/rehearsed it. Seems like a staged event to make an immigrant look good.

So why didnt the man standing 1 foot from the kid on the balcony reach over to grab him? From what I saw there was a higher partition between the balconies and the man was reaching around it just to hold the child in place, he was probably afraid to let go for a better position.

The man standing on the next barony had a divider between him and the kid. Would have been tough to get a good foot stance and pull. The kid was the mans neighbor whose father had left the four year old alone. My guess is father was immigrant too
