Recently there have been several incidents at Waffle House restaurants across the country in which Black customers have felt theyve been discriminated against or treated badly. (snip) WMNF News interviewed Dan Callaghan, a member of the Florida Peace Action Network in Pasco County.
They plan to protest again outside the Waffle House on U.S. 19 in New Port Richey on Friday beginning at 8:45 a.m.
A number of us are very concerned that African-Americans seem to be treated badly at Waffle Houses in the last couple of weeks. There was an incident where employees called a complaint in to the police about a woman very upset because she had to pay for a plastic fork. The woman ended up being undressed in public [by the rough treatment of police]. Then there was a second incident just a few days ago involving a young black man in a tuxedo who sat at the table, was called a faggot, and one of the employees said that hed beat him up. Then there was another incident on the Waffle House site: one of the employees somewhere saw black people coming to the restaurant and locked the door.
So we felt that the only way to get the attention of the corporation was to go to our brand new Waffle House no sticky floorsand essentially just be outside to let people know that African-Americans are maybe placing themselves in danger if they enter a Waffle House.
What kind of signs did you have?
Well, one of them said, Back to Jim Crow and Aunt Jemimah. Another one said, Awful House instead of Waffle House. And then there was a statement, essentially that said African-Americans endanger themselves by entering the premises. Another one said, Danger Zone for Blacks. That was pretty much the tenor.

Virtue signal much?
This is all orchestrated. Waffle House represents Americana and traditional values, so of course the Left has to destroy it.
Are black people boycotting Waffle House, and how do the Waffle House employees feel about it?
Waffles are Belgian.
Something tells me that every one of those “incidents” deserve fleshing out in greater detail, because if there’s a tolerant forgiving patient bunch who have seen it all, it’s Waffle House cooks, waitresses and cashiers. They deal with drunks and late night crazies every night of the week, every day of the year. If somebody sets them off, I can just about guarantee they exhibited far more patience than I would have under the same circumstance.
Been to plenty of WH across the country, never had an actual waffle.
The Hash Browns with Jalapenos and cheese are great with a cheeseburger, cheap too.
Yeah, the staff at EVERY WH I have been too have been either older white trash ladies or younger black girls, management may vary, as well as the greasiness of the menus.
I mean the actual menus are covered in grease.
If “people of color” boycott Waffle House, aren’t they the ones making it a de facto “whites only,” restaurant?
= = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = =
AFTER the ‘boycott’ is successful, THEN ‘they’ will be able to claim they aren’t ‘allowed’ to go in.
That describes the older Waffle House locations but not the newer ones. The experience as well as the patrons will vary depending upon just what side of town you’re on, but the staff all have that air of resignation with an underlying sense that they’ll gut you if you start any $#!+ inside the restaurant. Put it this way, if a woman in her seventies has managed to survive waiting tables late at night in a Waffle House she *can* take you out one way or the other, lol. Rest assured.
. ..many blacks are “tools” of The Left and I don’t think it will EVER change... .
I can’t speak for Florida, but the black people I work with in Columbus, GA like Waffle House just fine. My black supervisor recommended teh hamburgers, and he was right. They are a great value, better than Wendy’s, and short of Five Guys, but the price is closer to Wendy’s than to Five Guys, and miles better than the pricier Red Robin.
I love Waffle House. It and Chick-Fil-A are the only fast food places where I have never had a bad experience.
Who let these morons out of the mental hospital?
As I survey the crowd I get the impression of “the walking brain dead”.
The “Waffle House”, is...the Waffle House. They don’t pretend to be anything other than a small diner, with good food.
Yes, the food may be a little greasy, but this article is about racism, not food quality.
Personally, as a Southerner, I think the food is very good. Breakfast anytime of the day or night, good burgers, and coffee.
Don’t go there expecting *Four Seasons* and you won’t be disappointed. Don’t go there expecting to get perfect service, or, your ass kissed - no matter what its color - and you won’t be disappointed.
It’s a restaurant, they serve good food, at a decent price. If I had any complaint, it would be that they are not large enough and sometimes you have to sit and wait for a table...but, that’s Waffle House.
Their food beats the hell out of Cracker Barrel.
If people would just go there and eat, instead of looking for a “lawsuit lottery” win, they’d enjoy it.
Years ago, on one of our family auto trips from New England to Disney in Orlando, we stopped and ate breakfast at the Triangle Waffle House. Attentive, friendly staff and a delicious breakfast.
Maybe they will find the time to protest the two murdered white cops at the hand of a black man in Kansas City?
Booker T. Washington (18651915) warned of such people within the black community in his 1911 book My Larger Education. He described them as problem profiteers:
There is another class of coloured people who make a business of keeping the troubles, the wrongs and the hardships of the Negro race before the public. Having learned that they are able to make a living out of their troubles, they have grown into the settled habit of advertising their wrongs partly because they want sympathy and partly because it pays. Some of these people do not want the Negro to lose his grievances, because they do not want to lose their jobs. (p. 118)
