Trump 'unfit' for office and Republicans should urge him to quit, says ex-N.J. Gov. Christie Whitman

President Donald Trump's interaction with Russian President Vladimir Putin was a "disaster,"  "detrimental to the country" and the strongest evidence yet that "the president (should) step down."

Those are the words of former New Jersey Gov. Christie Whitman, a Republican, who penned a blistering op-ed in the Los Angeles Times this weekend calling on fellow GOPers to put country over party and dump Trump.

"In this election year, opposing Trump is risky for GOP candidates," Whitman wrote. "Invoking the need to choose country over party is an overused trope. But it is essential now."

The piece was a reaction to Trump's refusal last week to publicly rebuke Putin for meddling in the 2016 presidential during a summit between the two. Trump and Putin "spent a great deal of time" discussing allegations of Russian election meddling as they met for several hours on July 16, the U.S. president said at a joint press conference in Finland that day.

But Trump did not strongly condemn the interference efforts, which U.S. intelligence agencies insist did occur, including the hacking of Democratic emails, the subject of the recent indictments of 12 Russians.

I didn't know about this until this weekend when local NJ news outlets were interviewing her.

Former NJ governor: Crusty Whitless should just fade away and keep her chicken-necked mouth shut.

We tried warning America years ago about members of the Council on Foreign Relations and you now see how republicans like Whitless and Colon Powell turn out to be.

Remember, crusty was the EPA administrator during 9-11 and stated that the air around the WTC was non-toxic and clean. Have any of the victims ever sued her for this false information?

BTW, where is Colin L. Powell today after he endorsed BHO? Do organizations still pay him $100K to hear his speeches? Anyway, he made his money fooling Republicans for decades, you are just so gullible.

It would be nice if we found a way to separate New Jersey from the continent and just let it drift off into the Atlantic somewhere. It would be decades before the idiots who live there even noticed.

We did put country over party—the UniParty—and voted Trump.

No, she just has that patrician Bush feeling of personal entitlement.

Yeah, she’s had a pretty stellar career since she left her failed governorship.

She probably never forgave him for buying the DeLorean estate in Bedminster up the road from her family’s estate, and building Trump National Golf Club on the property.

RINO’s like you are out Christy. If we wanted Democrat policies, we’d just vote for the real thing. There’s no need for Democrats-Lite like you.

Really? Refusing to be oppositional during a meeting between heads of state is disqualifying for office? What must she make of Obama's refusal to investigate the meddling for 6 months, after being told about it, when not even in a diplomatic setting? Should he have stepped down as well?

Make sure all who agree with her make their opinions public, so they can be chased out of any positions of influence and driven to the Democrats (where they will also be self-aggrandizing entitled pieces of manure) or third party where they will be both humorous and pitiful).

“She probably never forgave him for buying the DeLorean estate in Bedminster up the road from her family’s estate, and building Trump National Golf Club on the property.”

That’s the only plausible explanation I’ve heard so far. Her speaking out just sounds weird to me. Maybe her beef is with his stopping or reversing EPA overreach rules.

President Trump is 7 for 7 in endorsing winning candidates. Doesn’t sound like he is a drag on the party, unless she only considers RINOS to be the only true republicans.

Hi sauropod, it’s been a long time.

I remember when she first ran for governor against Florio. She sounded so great, so conservative and did a complete turn when she was elected. And she wouldn’t shut up!! On TV almost every day giving an opinion on anything and everything...

It’s too bad she just won’t fade away...
