A host of historic artifacts, including a lock of Napoleons hair, will be up for auction in the U.K. on Saturday.
The unusual object is in an early 19th-century composite locket frame with a lock of hair from Napoleons wife, Empress Josephine.
These are remarkable history, auctioneer Andrew Aldridge of Henry Aldridge & Son told Fox News.
A manuscript note accompanying the locket frame states:
The Emperor Napoleon's hair cut off after his death given to the Countess of Ranfurly by Madame La Croix housekeeper to the Empress Josephine from the time when she was Madame De Beauharnais to her death.
Josephine de Beauharnais was Napoleons first wife and Empress of the French from 1804 until her divorce from Napoleon in 1810.
The lot has a pre-sale estimate of $892 to $1,530.
Napoleon is one of the key figures in European history and remains a source of fascination to collectors.
An extremely rare bicorne, or 2-pointed hat, that was worn by the French leader at the Battle of Waterloo was recently sold at auction in France for $325,000.
The locket frame containing the locks of hair is part of an eclectic set of artifacts amassed by the late collector David Gainsborough-Roberts.
Another item of from his collection up for auction on Saturday is a fragment of cloth reputed to come from the flag of HMS Victory, the flagship of Napoleons nemesis Admiral Nelson. The lot has a pre-sale estimate of $1,275 to $1,913.

So someone can clone him?
The French are Coming.
That estimate sounds a bit low.
I have a lock of Nappies hair here in my house. Only 500,000. Has a nice frame and all.
Yeah, way low. But it’s just the opening bid. I’m sure it’ll go much higher then that. Unless there’s something you and I are missing here?
I watched a movie about Waterloo quite a few years ago. I got the impression that the decisive point was when Von Blucher attacked.
He was 71 and just recovering from a serious wound. He was shown as leading his men, calling them “His Children”. Of course movies sometimes arn’t accurate.
I visited Waterloo years ago. Ironically it was on the Fourth of July, LOL. Apart from the giant memorial mound with the lion statue atop it (made from melted-down cannon from the battle) it's not changed much landscape-wise since 1815.
Shouldn’t that be in a museum as a priceless historical artifact?
I have some wood that is from the
true cross of Jesus.
offered for only $1000 a sq. foot.
all you need.
your choice of oak or hickory.

Lord, I wish I did not remember such useless things.
I guess it was funny.
Just finished the book Brain Rules, events paired with emotion are only beat out by those paired with sight.
You could probably build a big house with all the pieces of the True Cross...
I never quite got the glorification of Napoleon. He brought nothing but misery to Europe. Because of him, there are French cemeteries in places like Russia and Egypt. And to what end? What was accomplished?
As I see it, Napoleon was just an early version of Hitler (minus the concentration camps).
Frida was such a hottie.
