> That was the worst thing we could have done, as this place also boarded dogs. <
Very good point. The pet boarder near me does it right. Cats are in one building. Dogs are in a separate building.
Our boarding kennel has separate buildings for small dogs, large dogs, and kitties. They also have luxury B&B accommodations in a house. There are multiple exercise areas and the owners are great people who truly love animals. Our dogs get excited when we turn onto the road, they know where they are going.
We also have a wonderful vet practice, where our dogs have gone since they were puppies. No fear, they love the vets and are happy to go.
Awesome, glad that’s working out! I have a hard time thinking outside the box anymore (pun intended) and I just might try this. Our oldest cat has been peeing outside the box for awhile now. We just do the best we can in putting down plastic underneath and around the boxes and changing it out all the time. Did the medical checks and nothing found. I’m so tired of constantly mopping that floor and using Oxy clean spray. I’m not sure what her problem is but she’s always just tolerated the other cats, would have been happier as the only. I think it’s her way of rebelling (refusing to share a potty as it’s beneath her hehe.)
I have two that really do like each other (siblings) but when it comes to getting attention, they are in constant competition.
That said, lovely story...lovely kittehs :)
That poor cat is so traumatized. You can tell from the body language. They need to wean it off them by the time their baby arrives, though. Brushing is the best therapy for emotionally hurting kitties.
It's either dietary insufficiency, or the cat isn't grooming himself. Cats usually spend a half hour or more a day licking and cleaning their fur. Hope he will be better soon with a better diet where he is now.
We use a “cats-only” vet. Solved a lot of fear and fear-peeing problems.
I hope it will be fine too. My wife and I had around 12 cats through our 45 years together ...... then a few boxer dogs.
Wonderful story! I am so glad that there are people out there who would adopt a 9 y.o. kitty and fill his life with love and hugs. This story is an antidote to the endless stories about the excrement-quality dummocraps and their filthy antics.
We have one cat that dislikes all other members of the ‘fur’ family...
Now that she has recently joined the #Meowtoo movement, well she’s insufferable!
Hope the high sided ‘box’ helps!
Here’s a link to a ‘like’ product (ours is 32”):
Best!
How old is the naughty kitty?
SOOOOO jealous! <3
Almost 4 years ago I adopted a kitty from a refuge, already 7 years old. Severe allergies, yeast infection in the ears, digestive problems...3 weeks ago I had to end her life as her body was full of cancer. Best kitty I ever had, cost a lot of money but don’t regret it. I gave her all my love and she clearly adored me. They leave a hole in your heart.
We have five cats & were told by the vet there should be a pan for each one PLUS one. So that’s what we do & have no potty issues. I’d also be a cat collector if I could, but there’s no room for more pans!
She’s around 15
Im very sorry to say it, but it could be kitty senility. You may wish to discuss the possibility with your vet.
I had a cat who would not go in the box. We bought dog training pads and put them where she would have accidents. Changing the pads every day was actually easier than scooping.
Back in early November, I noticed blood on the pads. At first, the vet thought it was an infection and prescribed antibiotics. But she kept bleeding, and further tests showed bladder cancer, a disease that usually affects dogs. Our vet had never seen it in a cat before. It was inoperable and we had to have her put down on Christmas Eve. It was not a happy holiday last year.
I have another cat who got cancer 8 years ago, but his was operable. His last surgery was 4 years ago, and he is still doing well.
