SQLite Code of Conduct
sqlite.org ^ | Dr Hipp?

Posted on 10/23/2018 7:57:43 PM PDT by posterchild

Having been encouraged by clients to adopt a written code of conduct, the SQLite developers elected to govern their interactions with each other, with their clients, and with the larger SQLite user community in accordance with the "instruments of good works" from chapter 4 of The Rule of St. Benedict. This code of conduct has proven its mettle in thousands of diverse communities for over 1,500 years, and has served as a baseline for many civil law codes since the time of Charlemagne.

This rule is strict, and none are able to comply perfectly. Grace is readily granted for minor transgressions. All are encouraged to follow this rule closely, as in so doing they may expect to live happier, healthier, and more productive lives. The entire rule is good and wholesome, and yet we make no enforcement of the more introspective aspects.

Now writing open source code is a religious order.

Looks good and definitely not PC. Excludes non-Christian so I am sure someone will scream. Guess Indian programmers and find a project elsewhere.

Don’t insult the code.

After reading the article again I see that he instituted a code of conduct because everybody said they should have one. It’s not going to be enforced. I think he was just poking his finger into the eyes of the SJWs.

I don’t understand how I was insulting it. I made an accurate observation.

Yep, I ran the circuit and there are a lot of people seething with barely disguised rage over something so nonoffensive.

"Now writing open source code is a religious order."

True. It's weird, and for monotheists (Jewish, Noachide, Sikh and the like), actually sinful. But they did post an exception.

"In the future, should someone wish to become a core developer of SQLite and is in every way qualified except that he or she does not feel comfortable with some details of this rule (for example, the overtly religious elements), then appropriate adjustments can be made at that point. The objective of the rule is not to impose a particular religious creed, but rather to use time-tested behavioral guidelines to promote a productive and peaceful community."

So I see their point.

Most everyone with an Android device uses SQLite, I think. I believe it is the default installed database engine.

“Most everyone with an Android device uses SQLite”

Android = Google = Evil.
The SQLite evangelists should stick their rules into Google’s ... eyes

If you don’t think you are a SQLite user, think again!

Most everyone with an Android device uses SQLite

Same goes for iOS.

Same goes for users of Chrome, Firefox, Safari.

Check out the full list. "SQLite is used by literally millions of applications with literally billions and billions of deployments. SQLite is the most widely deployed database engine in the world today."

At least they aren’t pagan, like all those UNIX and their daemon worship.

I use it explicitly in some software, but yeah, I didn’t realize how widespread it was until I read about it the other day in some uk newspaper article.
