Ted Cruz leads Beto O’Rourke by 6 points in new poll

Republican Sen. Ted Cruz leads Democratic challenger Beto O’Rourke by 51% to 45% among likely voters in their race to represent Texas in the U.S. Senate, according to a University of Texas/Texas Tribune Poll released Friday.

O’Rourke is continuing a months-long trend in lagging Cruz, but he is finding success among independent voters, a group that often gravitates toward the GOP in the Lone Star State. Some 51% of independent voters backed O’Rourke, while Cruz drew 39%, according to the new UT-TT poll.

“If you look for Republican defections to Beto O’Rourke, they’re not there. But the independents break to the Democrat instead of the Republican in that race,” Jim Henson, co-director of the poll, told the Texas Tribune.

The poll surveyed 927 likely voters from Oct. 15 to Oct. 21, and it has a margin of error of plus or minus 3.22 percentage points. Some 2% of likely voters said they would back Libertarian candidate Neal Dikeman, while another 2% said they would support someone else.

The RealClearPolitics average of polls shows Cruz with a 6.8-point lead in the race.

O’Rourke won’t win. This is an election that includes
statewide offices such as governor on down. They aren’t
going to vote GOP for the statewide offices and then select
a dem for the senate race. Cruz may not win by the margin
the governor will but he’ll win.

Everything’s bigger in Texas — and the state’s U.S. Senate race is no exception.

Campaign finance reports released Friday revealed the cost of the heated contest between GOP Sen. Ted Cruz and Democratic challenger Beto O’Rourke has topped $100 million, making it the most expensive Senate race in U.S. history.

As first reported by The Houston Chronicle, O’Rourke has raised $70.4 million since entering the race in March 2017.

That far outpaces fundraising by Cruz, who has raised $40 million since the very beginning of his election cycle in 2013.

The Chronicle reported that the $110 million haul does not include funds from outside super PACS that are helping the Cruz and O’Rourke campaigns.

According to the Chronicle, no general election U.S. Senate race until now has cost more than $77 million—a record set in Massachusetts in 2012 when Democrat Elizabeth Warren defeated Republican Scott Brown.

That is an insane amount of money. Of course that is part of the reason, if not the major reason, the MSM keeps pushing this race. They want the money from ads.

We’ve been lying to the pollsters.

There are lots of Beto signs. More than the normal number of demonrat signage. Even A&M students are for him. Still, hoping he loses. He’s not particularly interested in this election. It’s only to get his name out there for when he makes a run for POTUS.

On Thursday morning, a black guy called in to Austin, TX radio station, KLBJ, ranting about white folk being devils. He said he was voting for the Mexican, Beto. The radio hosts tried to tell him Beto was a white Irishman but Cruz was Hispanic. The guy continued to rant and say Beto was Mexican and finally hung up on the hosts. Low IQ voter.

************

Well he didn’t lie in that ‘Beto’ is Spanish for Roberto and
his real name is Robert. So his father gave him the nick.

He was called "Bob" before he decided to run for office.

And, his congressional constituents are 70% Hispanic.

Beto is falling back day by day, just like all the Dems in the central US.

Beto is the face of the “blue wave”. Without his victory, there can’t be a “blue wave.”

I do the exact same thing. Voted against him last time too.

A possibility brought about by strategically incompetent republicans and independents, who have acutely referred to Robert Francis by his carefully selected nickname.

The only nickname I have ever used for him is “Irish Bob” and I counter the use of the Beto contrivance in public with mockery and a comparison with Elizabeth Warren’s Cherokee claims.

Basically, always make the “Beto” advocates defend Psychogewea along with their ridiculous hit and run cross-dressing drunkard.

Let’s just hope 6 points is enough to cover the margin of fraud.
