Makes absolutely no sense whatever to rename that airport after Oprah. That’s crazy, idiotic liberal thought.

Technically, the name of Nashville’s Airport is Berry Field (hence the BNA). I believe it was named after an early aviator. Orpah has only a “yootful” connection to Nashville 4 decades ago. We have 2 Presidents we could name it for from Middle Tennessee: Andrew Jackson and James K. Polk (unlike the recent media worship of GHW Bush, Polk was probably the greatest one-term President). I wouldn’t be opposed to renaming it Jackson-Polk, but not for some corpulent blowhard, racist, and ultraleftwing talkshow host who made her living in Chicago.

The only airport I can think of named for a Black celebrity is New Orleans’ Airport, and that for Louis Armstrong. I think that was well-earned, as Armstrong was a beloved figure (who ever had a bad word about him ?) and an Ambassador for his hometown, where he was born in abject poverty.

She was an energetic young cub reporter for a local TV news team. Then she moved up to a big city market and the rest is history. It’s too bad she joined the trendy set.
I like simple names as well. But people in power like to honor their heros.
