ABC is finally making a pressing Modern Family matter official: The Emmy-winning sitcom has been renewed for an 11th and final season.
The networks newly installed entertainment president, Karey Burke, announced the news Tuesday at the Television Critics Assoc. winter press tour, promising that the final season will feature more milestone events that long-standing fans of the series wont want to miss.
Modern Family this season is averaging 5.1 million total viewers and a 1.4 demo rating, down 10 and 15 percent from Season 9 but still ranking as ABCs No. 2 comedy (behind The Conners) and No. 4 series overall. In Live+7 DVR playback, it enjoys the largest gains of any ABC comedy, rising 59 percent in audience and 82 percent in the demo.
For 10 years, our characters have bravely faced turning points in life and moved through them to great personal enrichment, remarked co-creator and executive producer Christopher Lloyd in a statement, before adding in jest, We have chosen a different path by doing one more season of Modern Family. Added fellow co-creator and EP Steve Levitan (also with tongue firmly planted in cheek): Even after 10 years together, we realized there are still some things our writers dont yet know about each others sex lives.
Modern Family will leave behind a rich awards legacy. The series won the Emmy for Outstanding Comedy Series for five consecutive years, tying the record set by Frasier.
TVLines 2019 Renewal Scorecard has been updated to reflect Modern Familys swan song-themed pickup.
It’s inflicted about a century’s worth of damage on our culture in ten years.
I never saw the adopted girl as cute. she was: irritating, obnoxious, predictable, trendy, a tool used to make a point.
Never watched it. Glad it’s gone.
COURAGEOUS????? HA HA HAHA
I didn’t see them making fun of any Muslim families. ha.
Julie Bowen is the hotter of the two.
I’ve never watched it. It tried to convince us that the typical normal Modern Family is like the TV show.
The last cartoon I saw was Fritz the Cat.
I absolutely hate that garbage. It won’t end. It’ll be in syndication for years and years on several channels.
My son tried to get me to watch this on Hulu. Could not really get into it. Seemed to try too hard.
I prefer The Goldbergs or The Kids Are Alright.
“I didnt see them making fun of any Muslim families.”
Like many in the entertainment and arts field, they won’t. It’s just not worth having a car bomb detonated outside the studio or being shot up while grocery shopping or taking your kid the daycare.
Go read a book!
Send the entertainment types to the unemployment office!
In the latest iteration there was an ad for some bank or cable company, it showed two men talking about their kids to a babysitter before they went on a date.
Really bizarre how far we’ve sunk as a culture.
Sofia Vergara - va va va VOOM!
Julie Bowen - the girl from Happy Gilmore who gave me naughty dreams
Ed O’ Neill - really funny in Married With Children
Put ‘em all together and I STILL wouldn’t watch.
This thing was a crap sandwich.
Ive seen episodes here and there but while it was sort of funny, it was never enough to make me want to turn it on.
There are a lot of shows where Muslims are shown:
American Sniper
The Siege
Delta Force
Zero Dark Thirty
Raid on Entebbe
Work for me.
And a terrible child actress. They had to get someone based on ethnicity instead of talent to fit the script, and she never improved one whit even when older.
First few years were great, then the predictable downhill slide. Five or six years is about the limit most shows remain good (assuming they were good to being with), but when there is money to be made nobody is going to shut things down.
Can’t believe not one poster so far has specifically mentioned one word of the rampant faggotry perpetrated by this show.
