Is Apple including a service application within the OS?

OK. Here is the big question about NEWS+ that the Apple descriptions are completely silent on:

If I follow a link from an external website to one of the newspapers included in NEWS+, does that link now work, or do I have to do something else to get through the paywall, or do I have to get thorough the paywall by accessing it through NEWS+ and then rummaging around to find the article I want?

For instance, FR frequently has links to Wall Street Journal articles, but they are always behind a paywall. If I pony up the $10/month does this annoyance go away, or is hit a long arduous process to get to the article?

SM, do you know if Mojave fully supports "Spaces"?

I'm still on Yosemite, and have been in no hurry to upgrade...

Since I depend heavily on "Spaces", (including switching within multi-source presentations) loss of that functionality would be a total deal-breaker for me.

For a long time I haven’t used Apple News ... and never felt that it was forced on me. It was only ‘there’ if I wanted it.

And now ... with this new offering, I think I’ll give it a try and see if there are some things I can ‘pick and choose’ and use for myself.

I don’t think you have to be concerned about it being forced down your throat. It’s never been that way. You can pick and choose whatever service you want and dump the others. It’s all up to you.

I just updated my iPhone XS Max and I’ll see how this new News+ service is. I might not keep it in the long run, but I’ll give it a try for now.

Let’s write to Apple, as ‘Apple users,’ and lodge complaints about supporting such a biased and so ‘insanely wrong’ outfit. I’m certainly going to do that.

Not one feature interests me - sticking with 10.68 here.

Try to delete the app. It won’t let you.

But I don’t want Apple News forced down my throat.

It’s not. Where did you get the idea it would be? This update just makes it available among other updates with security fixes as well. It’s your choice to subscribe.

I gather the ability to subscribe has been apparently added to the existing free Apple News Service.
