Drone follows truck down road to house. Driver gets out, notices small drone hovering overhead. Driver retrieves bow and an arrow and draws at drone. Drone hurriedly retreats in direction of person controlling it about 800 feet away. The End. ;-)
Thanks for sharing /sarc
What sort of bow did you use?
Insane primitive hatred inspired by seeing a dtone... always fascinating
Increased use of drones might inspire increased sales of slingshots.
Not a huge leap to seeing it like a nosy neighbor that likes to spy on you. We have some expectation of privacy in our lives if we choose.
I looked up, and there it was, hovering completely stationary right above me maybe 500 feet up. I admit, it was so stationary, it was impressive.
But it was unsettling to see this hovering above my property. I know my property doesn't extend vertically up to space, but...knowing those things almost always have cameras, I felt...well...like my privacy was violated.
Turns out it belonged to my next door neighbor who was a very nice guy we got along well with, and he used it for photography, but...I think I understand how some people don't like it.
I live in a standard 1/4 acre lot, but it was clearly over my lot and not his.
Now, I went to a football game last year, and saw a State Police drone on a tether, hovering motionless about a mile away. It was a big one with a blinking blue light on it, and I have a really good set of motion correction binoculars, and I got the distinct impression the swiveling camera on the bottom of it was looking at me!
I am not anti-cop, but that was oddly disturbing to me. Hell, I know they fly over in helicopters with chin mounted motion corrected cameras that are very powerful, but there was something about this unmanned device.
I think you are right DesertRhino, there is an emotional response to it by people.
So you’re okay with someone watching you with a drone?
How about someone tapping into the camera on your smart TV or phone and watching you?
"Just because you are paranoid doesn't mean people aren't out to get you!"
About 5 Christmas’s ago a 13 year grand son got a small drone for Christmas.
He didn’t use it very often until after Memorial Day.
Then he would race home, change clothes and head out with his Drone. He would come home at dinner time. Then he and his drone would go up to his bedroom to “study”.
Turned out he was studying the women in his neighborhood swimming and sunning them selves by their pools. Some with bikinis and some au natural.
His drone took some videos, which he had to “study” after dinner.
Neighbor a few houses away got a drone and it hovered outside our living room for a bit. No desire to get one until then ... but I want a hunter drone to attack pervert drones.
They still make Wrist Rockets.
:)
An anti drone drone? You’d have to check state laws.
That’s the image that hit my mind, too.
Used properly they do have great value.
This state has some areas that are really difficult to search.
Last summer a 3 year old wandered away from his home. A ground party searched for several hours with no luck.
So the sheriff’s department sent or had a neighboring department send a drone to the scene and the child was located in 20 minutes. He was very close to the house but in an area very difficult to search on foot.
Eventually local government will figure out how to regulate them without outlawing them.
Beside the “Creepy peeping Tom” aspect, there is the criminal casing the joint thing. See what might be easily stolen, etc. Like some guy checking out your open garage.
Hope the boot that went in the mouth wasn’t all gritty with sand.
