I think I see why his marriage ended in divorce.

The porn was not illegal, so there's no requirement that the parents destroy it. But it was made clear to the son that it would not be tolerated in the house.
However, since the son was in effect a paying tenant -- doing work in lieu of cash rent -- he had all of a tenant's rights, including a right to privacy.
I suspect the court will decide in favor of the parents, but I'd be interested to know the judge's rationale.
For where your treasure is, there will your heart be also.
Sometimes you just have to do the right thing. I’m with the parents. If you don’t want your parents to destroy your porn, don’t move back home.
tell it to the guys who had his parents give away their coin collection .. or baseball card collection.. or comic book collection when they were in the military.
I love that part of Michigan. Parents should be extremely careful about helping grown children today, in many cases it doesnt end well.
One man’s trash...
“as this is a civil case without any associated criminal charges.”
since when did the media decide that civil suites get special anonymity?
Parents didnt like it and it was important to him. He should have icarried it out first to his new digs. Hes lucky his parents didnt destroy it (or have it stored in an off-site facility) as a condition of being allowed to move in with them.
I would question how he arrived at the value of $29k. If he bought every single tape at the ‘new’ price...this would be a fairly questionable value.
Years ago (into the mid-80s), I knew of a AF guy who’d come out of South Korea and brought some mega collection with him (this was also like ten boxes of tapes). These were all copies of copies. I’m thinking this is probably how this guy’s collection came to be.
The Flying Fist of Charles Portnoy. Father should be sued for destroying film classics.
During my junior year in college, in my absence, my mom sold my hydroplane. I had recently reworked and painted the bottom to improve planing characteristics.
If he had sold it earlier, he’d still have most of the money.
Sooooo....how much did he tell the divorce judge the magazines were worth? "Oh, those? $5, $10 tops!"
This man was already expelled from high school for selling porn, so he’s had what amounts to an addiction for a long time. No Class Reunion invites for him. I cannot even imagine how my family would have felt if I had disgraced them in such a low and shabby manner.
Now, he has burned his bridges AGAIN by acting to sue his elderly parents who don’t have money or even a lot of time to waste on this kind of nonsense. He should have put them into a rental space. When you move back home, even just for a visit, you become seen as “The Child” again, with house rules for the children. That, I have experienced, but I wasn’t really bothered by it.
I would suspect these movies have lost a great deal of market value anyway. Porn is not rare or difficult to acquire nowadays. He’s a Brat, a Louse and a Loser!
This guy is a disgusting loser all the way around. I hope I never meet him.
That’s what I call a sticky situation.
Aint no porn worth that much
...and if your entire porn collection were sold today, it could fetch a price of up to $30,000!
Wow!!
...but, sadly, most of this is available online, making your collection worth at most $29.00.
