Google knows everywhere you go — here’s how to stop it from tracking you and delete the logs

•First, go to myaccount.google.com/privacycheckup. This is a good page to bookmark, since it gives you granular control over lots of privacy settings.

•Next, scroll down to “Location History” and choose “Manage Location History.”

•This is where you’ll see everywhere you’ve been. It’s a freaky level of detail.

•Tap “Manage Location History” at the bottom of the screen again.

•Toggle the button to turn off Location History.

To delete your history, do this:

•Tap the settings button on the “Location History” map.

•Select “Delete all location history.”

Turn off the option that allows Google to track your location history.

That’s not it, though.

Google will continue tracking your location unless you also turn off a separate “Web & App Activity” tracker. Google says it tracks your location from apps to provide “better recommendations, and more personalized experiences in Maps, Search, and other Google services.”

Turn off the option that allows Google to track your web and app activity.

Not by Google. There are also some tricks for that but not for discussion.

I have a friend big into gaming and is huge into google “services”. He was interested in the new google Stadia gaming platform but since it all runs on google’s servers he (and many people) were worried about input lag. I told him not to worry about it, since google already has your contact list, appointments, calendar, where you go, what you do, and what you search for they already know you better than yourself. Input lag is not a real concern, they already know where you were going to move and will fix it during the lag time.

In the mean time, until it is illegal or they continue to buy off more legistators and keep that from happening.....

down load “Blockada” It is FOSS (free open source software) and you can get it on f-droid (f-droid.org)

It sets up a VPN on the phone that allows you to control internet traffic on and off the android. You can block google so they get nothing if you desire. Unfortunately, most people are so emeshed into google “services” that they could not bear to not have gmail, maps, photos, etc.

The government and the big Corps track the population through the evermore ubiquitous cameras and electronic cash registers and a lot of etc. A guerrilla war in an advanced country- China, Europe, the USA- is probably not possible now.

It is easy to say that. “They are bored by my information”. What is disconcerning is that all that data is there. If the political winds of change came and the Bernie-bot socialists got in, that might be troublesome. google hates conservatives and actively manipulates searches, censors and manipulates data against conservatives. One might find their data of searches, websites visited, locations visited, contacts on their contact list, contacts visited, appointments on calendar, and on and on somewhat inconvenient in the new socialist paradise. It may be “boring” to you, but it all exists and can and will be used against you.

Not only does legislation not make such tracking illegal;
the embedded technology needed is required by Fed law.

I have everything paused but I am still followed.
I see ads show up on my android phone on searches I did only on my pc. On my phone I only check accuweather and my yahoo finance page. Occasionally go to freerepublic when waiting somewhere.

The problem with that is that people want to know things like; “Where is the closest gas station” or “the nearest coffee shop” or “how to get to 123 Fake St. from here”. Google has to know where you are. Most people will be surprised at the lost functionality when they turn off location data.

Only turn off those functions when you are on a secret mission. Better yet leave your real phone at home and use a burner phone.

I don’t think it was google, but I went to what might have been a dark web site and found everything but my picture. Income, assets, religious affiliation (They blew that one badly}, and what kind of a neighbor I am. There was a lot more, mostly accurate, and startling.

I'm not, but if I was...
Anything people delete about themselves would be carefully backed up in a secret location and scrutinized.

Here's a great definition of irony: In order for Google to tell you this stuff you need a Google account so they can track you.

Common sense:
* Avoid Google as much as you can.
* Dump your Google account.
* Don't use gmail.
* Use a search engine like DuckDuckGo that guarantees not to track you. Just as good and fast as Google.
* Add Ghostery to your browser to stop trackers in their tracks (slight pun intended :).

They would get bored, I have nothing to hide.....

Would you be comfortable handing all your data and privacy to your worst enemy?
