First, go to myaccount.google.com/privacycheckup. This is a good page to bookmark, since it gives you granular control over lots of privacy settings.
Next, scroll down to Location History and choose Manage Location History.
This is where youll see everywhere youve been. Its a freaky level of detail.
Tap Manage Location History at the bottom of the screen again.
Toggle the button to turn off Location History.
To delete your history, do this:
Tap the settings button on the Location History map.
Select Delete all location history.
Turn off the option that allows Google to track your location history.
Thats not it, though.
Google will continue tracking your location unless you also turn off a separate Web & App Activity tracker. Google says it tracks your location from apps to provide better recommendations, and more personalized experiences in Maps, Search, and other Google services.
Turn off the option that allows Google to track your web and app activity.

Thanks - bookmark.
I have used the data to find a restaurant I went to and liked and to remember when I went somewhere.
I might need to leave my phone home if I decide to knock over a bank though.
Sure it does. LOL.
Don't be surprised when you read an article 5 years from now reporting Google actually kept your data for 'statistical purposes'.
I 76 and could care less if I tracked.
For later use. Thanks benlurkin.
BTTT!
It’s google. There’s no such thing as privacy. Likely a fake button and when you click it they double the snoops.

That seems accurate.
Agreed. Google does not have to store that information, or use it against you. Also, opting out once should suffice a sort of 'do not call list' across all of Google's business lines.
This ridiculous permissions hide and seek across all websites these days is because they're all afraid of Google.
