Had the pleasure to see Roky perform on several occasions: he was a unique talent and extremely underrated.

He’s not from a distant generation. I’m 51.

Cant believe I have NEVER heard of him.

Brother is in his 60s and had large rock/funk collection that I loved.

Guess this was a unique artist.

Rest in peace Roky. Two of his former bandmates are friends of mine here in central Texas. I bought a 60’s Ludwig hi-hat stand from the drummer a few years ago to go with my vintage WFL kit.

“Legendary Psychedelic Musician”

Psychedelic? The quick study of his album names and song titles takeaway would be more satanic than psychedelic. But that’s the MSM for you trying to pass something off of as psychedelic when in actuality it is quite different being satanic in nature.

According to scriptures and Hebrew/Greek translations the word sorcerer is pharmakeia in the Greek which means drugs. So being psychedelic is also satanic.

Why wouldn’t the MSM use the term satanic? Just looking at his lyrics and song titles and album titles indicates pure satanism.

Born in Austin, just like me! But growing up in Dallas had not heard of him, we listened to Willie, Jerry Jeff, Rusty Weir, lot of great music in the 70s - enjoy Roky

I never heard of him. That said, listening to some of his music feel safe in telling you that the band tracks right along with psychedelic bands of the era.

Words do not psychedilia make.

One of the most underrated artists from the 60s. Here is an early performance on American Bandstand.

WOW! Someone who played an instrument, that few ever heard of died. I hope the world doesn’t stop turning. We’d best consult with the Freeper Rock Connoisseurs crowd to find just how hugh & series this might evolve.

Man you’re just plain stupid. What’s satanic about album titles like Don’t Slander Me and Never Say Goodbye. And no the Greek word for sorcerer is NOT pharmakeia it’s Maga. By your idiotic translation pharmacology is evil, so no antibiotics for you. Probably a good thing.

He made really good music. Didn’t make hits. It happens. The world is lesser without him.

I've always liked the name, "13th Floor Elevators", although I just found to my surprise that I've no familiarity with their catalog. "13th floor elevators" is an amsuing reference, of course, to witless superstitions. What the world needs is a band called "Black Cat Crossing" or "Under Ladder Walking" or "Broken Mirror". Here's something for me, for later.

That’s a great song and a crazy looking group :)

With the music and the looks seems like they would have been very big and I’m surprised still that I have never heard of them.

My brother even had Edgar Winters, who scared the hell out of me as a kid :)

I will listen to some more from this man/group?

Was he solo at one point or was this the band where most of his work comes from?

Damn, "13th Floor Elevators"........You know what? I had never heard of them before in my life until this morning I was in my car with Sirius Radio on and on the touch screen was the album cover of that group as one of their songs was playing.......

And now here you go posting a link to a Youtube video of that very group.........That is weird!
